I think you are closer to the truth than I would care to admit!
My "affair" with the Native has a lot to do with blade shape. By making the blade wider, the odd-looking (though functionally appreciated) "hump" disappears, and the blade lines are far smoother than other Spydies. Also gives blade a more substantial, muscular appearance. Plus it just opens & closes soooooo easily...
