Need climbing and camping knife

Pricey but a spyderco tusk would be a handy climbing knife. The marlin spike might get more use than the blade. Very handy for untying froZen wet webbing

Thanks everyone. I think I might get the dragonfly but one last thing are there any good fixed blade knives for climbing?

Id avoid a fixed blade for now, as fast as they are to deploy, its the putting away that causes problems. Worst case with a folder, you can one hand it closed and dump it, can't do the same with a fixed. In that case you want to be looking at rescue hooks.

If you are wearing a harness (what kind of climbing are you doing and where?) a fixed blade has no place and will get in the way. If you are hiking/scrambling with out ropes and a harness carry any knife you wish. Lots of folks love ESEE and Becker knives.

Dragonfly is a decent choice for carrying on a harness.

Take your parents climbing for a three-day weekend. You get a knife and they don't.

See if they still feel the same Sunday night.

I'm thinking of going for an opinel because it doesn't look as menacing so it will be easier to convince my parents to let me buy it. Does anyone have opinions on using this for climbing?
