Need Help Choosing Bare Bones Kit Computer

Well,I ended up futzing about and going over my budget, but here's what I've ordered:

AMD FX 6300 Vishera
MSI 970-46 motherboard
8 gbs (4x2) crucial ballistix ram (dual channel)
WD Blue 1 TB
Power color Radeon 5450 1 gb PCI-e video card

Then realized I would need a case and power supply. :(

Chiefmax Hero (el cheapo) case
Thermal take 600 watt power supply.

How did I do?

Planning to use Win 7 64 bit o/s

That doesnt look like a bad setup but not sure what you ended up paying for it so if you are happy with your choices, then you did fine. :) As long as you compared cpu's, both amd and intel at that price point, then you did fine. I only use Win 7 Pro 64 bit on my systems and like it alot.

Good luck with the build and post a pic once put together and setup so we can see it up and running! :D

Thanks Sir Mike,I got the majority for $340,the case plus two fans was $36.97 and the power supply was $42.59. Roughly $420 for the lot.

I did consider getting an i5 processor and motherboard, but then I could not have afforded a video card and hard drive.

You did fine considering your needs and budget. I think you'll be very happy with that system.

Here is a list I put together to build one for myself (that I haven't gotten to yet), you could shave some $$ off here and there, but it would be a nice system you can build on, motherboard could be upgraded to 32GB of memory eventually, and the case has plenty of room for more drives etc. You could also get a cheaper case, i just thought that one looked nice :)

Here was a topic I started a few months back about a new photo-editing computer. Some of the other guys posted pics and specs of their recent builds. Quite a few hands-on computer enthusiasts around here.

Bob W ,I'll post a pic when it's done. Might not be for a while as the processor arrived wih a cracked plastic case and some bent pins. I've got an RMA # and am returning it to Newegg on Wednesday. I'll have to look for that thread. I'm very much a diy type, sadly some things I simply can't do anymore.

357Survival,I appreciate the list I may upgrade to an i5 in a few months so I do need those links. :)

I currently run the Core i5-4570, which is very close to the one 357Survival linked and like it alot. :)
