Need help. Is it real

Good afternoon. I’m having trouble putting the Information up at the top here it’s below the pictures my apologies

I received a Emerson HD-7 through a friend
In pretty rough shape. The original owner was a close friend who had since passed away so I can’t ask him if it is real or not. One of the knives that I had gotten from him along time ago turned out to be a clone even though most if not almost all of his collection was real. I am not comfortable not knowing if this one is real or not can somebody please help me identify whether it is authentic or not. I am including pictures and hopefully we will get to the bottom of this.
 
It looks real to me. Early model HD-7. Someone tried to flame the scales, but everything else looks original.

Thank you. My friend Aron left it to me with a ZT Emerson that turned out to be a clone. Do you have an idea of what some thing like this in the present condition might be worth?
 
At present condition.... best guess... starting price $250 maybe up to $325 max if someone really wants it. The blue flame job on the handle is pretty ugly.
 
Thank you. The anodizing was done with batteries of wire and a wet piece of paper towel by my friend Aaron he was experimenting. It comes off easy enough I just have to wipe it down with this acid that I have called wink and it takes it right off I want to thank you very much for your help sincerely Michael Joseph
 
I disagree that in present condition that you could start at $250

HD-7’s are somewhat rare and no longer in regular production, but that one is pretty beat up. Also, the warranty is very likely voided because of the anodizing as Emerson usually doesn’t even accept knives that have been modified for service. Couple that with the fact that the HD-7’s have notoriously bad lock bar life and eventually you’ll have a knife with lock rock and 100% lockup with no warranty coverage to get it fixed.

I’d say that $200 might be the absolute max you’d get in the exchange but that’s just my opinion.

I had worked on it for 4 hours altogether after I had received info from Harvey on BF and it looked much more presentable, I also put on an edge that it should of had not that hack job. I put in an opening bid of 299 and someone bid. I’m keeping my fingers crossed. I’ve included a few photos of the cleanup.

In the spirit of transparency it should be added to the description on the auction site that the lockside was anodized by a previous owner and then refinished by you. Again, this effects warranty.

Just a suggestion, it’s not my knife and you can do what you want but it’s important to disclose things like that
 
Not a expert on Emerson's by any stretch but have been around a while. Shooting from the hip/best guess is you'd be lucky to get $150 from anybody that knew anything about Emerson's. If anything somebody might buy as a beater or to practice modding.
As stated above hopefully you have provided full disclosure about it's story.

I mean, I had three HD-7's at one point and the one that had lock rock I sold for $400......

The buyer said Emerson fixed it right up for them and I actually had the other two sent off to Emerson to fix the same problem and was no big deal at all.

May need to search for another one, love those things.
