I'm ashamed to say it, but I'm ignorant of the situation in Nepal. I'm aware that's there is trouble... Is there any thread/s that explains the situation in some detail.

I was pretty ignorant about what's going on in Nepal also until recently hearing the bad news here in the forum. Try looking at www.bbc.com, they have much better reporting on this subject than american news. Check out the secton on Nepal Maoist war.
