New Benchmade "Redoubt"

As of right now the Redoubt is sold out on Blade HQ, while their Exclusive Spyderco Shaman that was released today is still in stock. Surre, we don't know how many of each they had, but I would not have expected that. Maybe Benchmade knows what they're doing.

Knifecenter has them in stock, could be that BladeHQ got a small amount of them.

Try returning your Chinese knife to the factory for a free resharpening.
That justifies their insane prices?

🤣

Edit: I sharpen my own knives. I know how fast any knife can dull when really used. For a desk job, a free sharpening service would make sense I suppose.

Kershaw offers free sharpening. They sell $30 knives.

All I'm saying is, Benchmade has unreasonable pricing.

I'm out before the fanboys come out with the pitch forks. Have a good day all

I'll quote mqqn mqqn on Benchmade's QC "If you make it right, you won't have to 'make it right'"

Granted, I swore off BM a long time ago. Free sharpening? Have you seen how uneven the grinds are? Yeah I think I'll sharpen it myself. Still free, and I do a better job. Of all the knives I own and have owned, 5 have gone back to the company for issues. 3 were BM, 1 Spyderco, 1 Kershaw. American made isn't always better.

I hate having to send stuff back for repairs. I'd rather own a foreign knife with perfect QC than an American made knife that needs to to go back to the manufacturer.

Back on the topic at hand. I don't really see that big of a deal on the price to be honest. Nowadays PM steel means a lot, plus CPM-D2 is not a "mainstream" steel.

Look at the Demko AD-20.5. $150 for D2 or AUS10A, grivory handles. Made in Taiwan. I have the CPM-3V version, which is fantastic. Is it overpriced? Maybe. However, I'll take the shark lock over the axis lock all day long.

Benchmades, as well as many brands, are overpriced these days. In 2013 I paid $130 for my Spyderco Gayle Bradley 1, with CPM-M4 steel. Its what, $200 for the lastest model? I paid $115 for my S30V PM2 in 2014. Its what, $175 for the basic S45VN now.

Basically, you have to add in for the BM name and their generally elevated price, plus the "exclusivity" of a somewhat uncommon steel.

Damn, K.O.D. K.O.D. beat me to it. BM saw the Demko 20.5 in D2 sellling well at $149 so ...

Yes, shark lock vs axis and Taiwan vs US make a difference.

Granted, CPM D2 is a step up from regular D2 as mentioned.
FWIW, Yes, I think the pricing is on the high side. Same for the Demko 20.5 D2 knife.
I'm also a cheapskate.

Isn't that the "Butterfly Tax"?
