New Benchmade "Redoubt"

My only actual worry on this one would be how off-center the pivot point is.

I don't like the look of it, but then again I've got two Grips and they're all the construction site break-it-if-you-can knives I need.

Price-wise, I dress Grips up in aftermarket G10 as a rule, so I'm in closer to 200 dollars for one, but they're the only Benchmades I've bought or would buy. Everything BM puts out looks like they were trying to make a Grip and took a wrong turn somewhere.

I think grip on large grips is perfect for my hand. Surprised BMC did not integrate more of that handle's DNA into other models.

Try returning your Chinese knife to the factory for a free resharpening and let me know how that goes for you.
Let’s see… 3 or 4 knives for the price of redoubt and no sharpening service… or the redoubt and a sharpening service I’ll never use.

Decisions…

huh? Please elaborate.
My m390 Contego's edge came to me used and burned, but a few sharpenings got to the good stuff and it is as good as my m390-710, which is very good, I love this steel.
Sure, this is with zero use. That is gonna' be a LOT of sharpening. JUNK.

Wow, what was your sharpening angle and what were you cutting?
I called Benchmade recently to see if I could replace my 810 m390 blade, before shipping blade to get thinned out, in case it went missing. They had no more m390 Contego blades, so I will not mine for work to be done. But hey I bet they have M4.

I handled a redoubt today at the shop and I just don‘t get it. It was okay but the display cases were full of as good or better knives for the price range it falls in. For me it’s a swing and a miss in its current configuration.

Exactly like I said.

I feel like sharpening is part of the collecting experience. It's be like sending my guns in to be cleaned, even if free.

I've had to many shipping issues lately to trust shipping anything. So no to free sharpening. FedEx delivered my 1000 rounds of 9mm to the wrong person, like 20 miles from me. To make matters worse, they don't even contact the guy about the mistake. Just wrote it off, and paid for a replacement. I'm going to drive to the guys place whose auto part I have tomorrow, maybe he will have my ammo.

Speaking of customer service vs making the product correctly, I just go a new clip (free) from Hogue for my exploit. Old one was crap and would not retain shape. New one is terrible and it will just happen again. Great knife, terrible clip, and no aftermarket options.

You are attacking a straw man and thus making a fool out of yourself. Don't feel bad, though, you are in good company here.

That is the original factory edge and the knife hadn't cut anything. Other than the original full size Rukus, I have ZERO interest in any Benchmade. JUNK.

I have many knives in D2. I have an old BM 910 Stryker in D2 that is well over 15 years old and abused extensively. I also have a Spyderco PM in CPM D2 that has been similarly abused. I am a big fan of both steels. I was kicking around getting the Redoubt but opted for the Ritter RSK from Hogue. 20CV is my new go to favorite steel at the moment.

I will still get a Redoubt at some point because I love Benchmade knives and it is really comfortable in the hand. I will just be waiting for a G10 version or aftermarket scales to be available
