New Coating?

I was wondering, and maybe someone here has the answer: does the 2nd gen BK2 have a different coating than the earlier version? I own both, and have noticed that the 2nd gen coating is much tougher than my other BK2. It has held up much better, and while it has scuffs on it, it has not gone through to the bare metal like my first, after having done much of the same kind of work, with a good bit of batoning.

Has anyone else noticed this? It seems like yet another improvement that they have made in the 2nd gen BK2, and I like it!
