new cold steel 2022 products

Just picked up my first Cold Steel this week, it will probably be my last CS.
I bought mine before the sale, the only one I wanted. Who doesn’t want an XL Vaquero?…affordable and has that “holy crap” factor when you show it off to your friends. With that, I’m done with CS.

To be clear...this is just showing new products...right? This isn't all they will be making, is it?

I just ordered my third ever CS product. I've had a neck knife called The Spike for about 20 years. Recently I picked up a Tuff Lite.
Finally I found an HD sword cane in stock. These are all from the old product line. I don't see anything else appealing.
Reading up on state laws for sword canes, my fun might be more limited than I was hoping...

Most places don't allow sword canes

I don't like the word blood groove. It's stupid and misleading. It's called a fuller and is used to make a larger blade lighter with minimal compromise in resistance to bending.

Even though LT videos are crazy and entertaining he always came across as a person who knows edged tools and weapons very well and I have never heard him spatter such nonsense. I am surprised.

These new marketers are coming across as people who should be marketing something else.

I wasn't expecting much from GSM , but this all looks even worse than I feared .

Even their one nod to the old school , larger sized , martially oriented folder was a poor choice , IMO .

I have most of the big ones from the past , but never bothered with the Spartan because of the very restrictive grip .

Also , the Spartan is hardly a new or innovative design .

These "new" versions don't improve on the basic design enough to matter , IMO .

On a brighter note, the value of original Cold Steel knives just went up. I'll be keeping mine -- SRK, Master Hunter, Elk Skinner, a brace of Twistmasters, American Lawman -- but doubt I'll be interested in the 'new' stuff.
That only is good if you're selling . ;)

If you need to buy a replacement ...not so good . :(

These Spartans look pretty brutal. Although I'm not seeing the "blood groove." Or is that a song?View attachment 1718786View attachment 1718787

I honestly had to double check to see if I was in the crazy tacticool thread when I saw this...

That's where you use a boar spear.

The new line up looks like the Cold Steel brand is being take for a drag by GSM. It really looks like they Gerbered up the place. Ew.

It's like they put the Cold Steel logo on the show side of the Drifter and Verdict (instead of the knife name) to desperately try to convince customers that they are still "Cold Steel" knives.

Recently got an S35VN XL Espada, a tanto Voyager XL in AUS10, a GRIK in AUS8, and a Kudu (okapi) that's 5cr15mov, and I love them all, but I think I'm about done with CS, too, unless I need another huge folder or another GRIK, because the GRIK is such an amazing little ugly, tough work knife for ugly, tough jobs. Love it like an Ontario RAT.

I am worried though, if my stuff is newer, are the materials and manufacturing sub-par compared to the past? Like, this is Taiwan, S35VN, I escaped any changes, right? I just want to know that my Espada is all good to go and not some different GSM version. Thank you for any info that soothes my mind, it is my most expensive knife to date!

I have the latest XL Espada in S35VN (Sold Steel logo) and it seems to be top notch to me. Rock solid lockup and whatnot. Razor sharp and all that.

Darn thing's so nice I usually save it for church.

I might try an AD 10 Lite depending on the price. I never bought an AD 10 since I consider my Ultimate Hunter (great knife) similar to it. I'd try it to see what AUS10 is like. I don't own that steel yet.

Even if GSM runs CS into ground (which I hope doesn't happen of course), I will still continue to carry my Ultimate Hunter, Recon 1, and SRK in SK5 (another great knife for the $).
