Howdy from South Texas!

As far back as I can remember I've always carried a knife. Just small mutli-blade folders, which just seemed a natural thing to always have and felt naked without having a knife on me.

My real blades addiction began with single-blade flipper folders, ranging through various common brand names, then diving into folders having PM super steels, and resulting in a love for Spyderco PM2s and Shamans. But along the way I also began getting interested in fixed blades and added some ESEE and Tops, etc. to the collection.

Then my blades addiction took a turn when I realized that I was carrying around a Bradford or an L.T. Wright knife most of the time, gaining a greater appreciation for a nice leather sheath over Kydex, a love of carbon tool steels over stainless varieties, and becoming very interested in custom knives. So this is where I'm presently at, always at least having a small fixed blade in the pocket, and don't know where I'll wind up.

I appreciate being allowed to join this forum, appreciate you reading this far, and I look forward to contributing in discussions. I'm also same username on BushcraftUSA, PoutHouse and TexasGunTalk.

Just wanted to say hello. I just picked up a Vulcan 15 anvil from what I'm reading should be a 150lb Manufactured by Illinois Iron & Bolt Co. I'm understanding these were low quality but with the prices around me this should atleast get me started. I paid 200.00 and received a fair amount of steel with it

Hello all from southcentral PA. Been a knife enthusiast for 50+ years and have had mostly hunting knives and also a few Navy specific types. I recently inherited a collection that is too big for personal use, so I will be trying to navigate through the (new-to-me) process of listing them on here.
I am sure I will make some errors, but I truly appreciate this forum for allowing individuals to participate in this type of collecting. Any tips on getting started will be greatly appreciated.

I recently found this forum, will hopefully meet likeminded knife owners. My late Husband installed some weapons love my way, both firearms and knives. I've managed to purchase some basically bargain basement cheap stuff and just a few nicer items. As time goes I will post up pictures.

For some reason, I've not been too keen on pocket knife items to own, but have a few purchased for hardly any big price tag yet came with a decent edge. Mainly I like fixed blades, they for me, take less effort to deploy and for me sharpen easier. Not looking for a boyfriend, either.

I'm from Bismarck, North Dakota, retired, and always looking for new hobbies. I guess my favorite is woodworking, but it works well with other hobbies. I've made a couple of knives after watching some videos. I made one out of an old sawblade, one out of a file, and am working on another from a file. I'll be ordering a forge soon and will try my hand at making a blade from a steel knife blank, I'd really like to make some folding knives, particularly a folding Bowie knife.
I'm looking forward to learning and seeing some knife making.
Thanks,
Mike

Hello BladeForums community! I'm thrilled to join as a new member and lifelong knife enthusiast!
😊

My knife journey began about 20 years ago with a Ka-Bar USMC, and since then, I’ve grown to love ESEE, Becker, and Cold Steel for their durability and performance. For folders, I currently EDC a Benchmade 940, which I absolutely adore for its sleek design and reliability.

By day, I’m a Chief Information Security Officer, but I recently left the hustle of the big city to embrace a simpler life. I purchased a remote rural property in a serene mountain community in Europe, settling into a charming home built around World War II. Exploring the property has been like stepping back in time—I discovered two antique looms, a manual corn husker, a grain grinder for livestock feed, a fully functional treadle sewing machine (still threaded!), a five-blade tractor plow, and, most exciting for knife folks like us, roughly 800–1,000 kg of leaf springs!

I’m eager to reconnect with my passion for the outdoors, knives, and tools, and I’d love to hear your thoughts. Those leaf springs are calling—any tips on forging or knifemaking for a newbie? Also, what’s your go-to EDC or outdoor blade? Excited to learn from this amazing community!
