New Predators film knife content spotted.

Saw it last night and was not very impressed. I don't understand the end with the young guy from "That 70's Show" (I forgot his name) playing the doctor role. I won't spoil it for anyone that hasn't seen it yet but I just didn't get that twist at the end with his character.
The fight with the asian guy and the predator in the field of grass was a cool idea but I find they could have executed it better.
I found Adrian Brody was trying too hard to be a tough guy, I didn't find it believable at all.
At least they played the trailer for Machete though, I've been waiting to see that for well over a year.

The Topher Grace character was a disgraced doctor who was also a serial killer. His killer persona came out at the end when he decided to kill the IDF hotness. At least that's how I understand it.

At least Brody didn't try to mate with a predator like he did in the movie Splice. Man that was the weirdest thing. Creepy.

I just watched the movie last night and I thought it was great. I grew up on the the first Predator and have claimed it as my favorite movie of all time, for as long as I can remember. So it was nice to to see so many correlations between the old and the new. The soundtrack was taken straight from the original, which I liked cause it gave you that feel that you got the first time that you watched Predator. Also a lot of the scenes/dialog was taken and redone to fit into the movie.

There were a couple things I didn't like thought. Like in the beginning when topher grace identified a poisonous plant by it's scientific name......in a jungle he'd never been in.....on a freaking alien planet. How did that get through the cut?????? Another thing....when are movie people going to learn......no one shoots from the hip....STOP SHOOTING FROM THE HIP(Brody I'm yelling at you)!!! The last thing that bothered me was the fact that these guys were loaded down with knives and really never used them. Brody carries those two huge knives around the whole move...and what does he use at the end to fight the predator???????....some alien tomahawk(it did look cool though). For god's sake, I think topher grace used his little scalp more than Brody used his knives.

In the end, I liked it....a lot. You have to take it for what it's worth. A 2 hour event filled with aliens, guns, knives, weapons, blood, murder, mayhem, and death. I couldn't think of a better way to spend $10 or an evening. So I would definitely recommend it....but then again this is coming from a guy that considers Predator one of the best movies of all time, so I might be a little bias.

Happy Hunting......

The Guns!!

Adrien Brody(Royce):
Primary: Atchisson Assault Shotgun, or AA-12. Fully automatic and drum-fed, the AA-12 fires five 12-gauge shotgun shells per second, with extreme reliability and so little recoil that strong men can shoot it Arnie-style with one hand. And if that hail of hot buckshot isn't enough to make both shooter and target need a change of underpants, consider this: it has been developed in conjunction with the FRAG-12 - a new type of shotgun cartridge in which each round is a small, flighted high explosive or fragmentation grenade accurate up to 175 metres

Alice Braga(Isabelle):
Primary: Blaser R93 Sniper Rifle - Introduced in 1997, this German precision sniper rifle has a number of unusual features: the receiver, stock, and forestock are made of an almost solid piece of composite material; the barrel is of chrome-moly steel, cold-forged, and impregnated with deep-penetrating nitrogen gas to retard rusting. The barrels for most of the non-magnum calibers are 24.7 inches long; for the .300 Winchester Magnum and 6mm Norma Benchrest, the barrel is 25.6 inches; and for the .338 Lapua Magnum chambering, the barrel is 27 inches long. The barrels are deeply-fluted to reduce weight and promote cooling. The bolt handle does not need to be rotated to be actuated; it is simply pulled straight back, unlocking and locking automatically, with two chamber vents being provided if a case head failure occurs.

Oleg Taktarov(Nikolai):
Primary - M134 Hand held Minigun - The Minigun is a 7.62 mm, multi-barrel machine gun with a high rate of fire (2,000 to 6,000 rounds per minute), employing Gatling-style rotating barrels with an external power source. The basic weapon is a 6-barrel, air-cooled, and electrically driven machine gun. The electric drive rotates the weapon within its housing, with a rotating firing pin assembly and rotary chamber. The minigun's multibarrel design helps prevent overheating, but also serves other functions. Multiple barrels allow for a greater capacity for a high firing rate, since the serial process of firing/extraction/loading is taking place in all barrels simultaneously. Thus, as one barrel fires, two others are in different stages of shell extraction and another three are being loaded. The minigun is composed of multiple closed-bolt rifle barrels arranged in a circular housing. The barrels are rotated by an external power source: usually electric, pneumatic, or hydraulic. Other rotating-barrel cannons are powered by the gas pressure or recoil energy of fired cartridges.

SideArm: uses a handgun of unknown make or model, after his minigun is destroyed.
It looked like a Makarov to me. This naturally would fit his character. I'm fairly certain it was a tokarev.

Danny Trejo (Cuchillo): 9 mm H&K MP5K - In 1976 a shortened version of the MP5A2 was introduced; the MP5K (K from the German word Kurz = "short") was designed for close quarters battle use by clandestine operations and special services. The MP5K does not have a shoulder stock (the receiver end was covered with a flat cover), and the bolt and receiver were shortened at the rear. The resultant lighter bolt led to a higher rate of fire than the standard MP5. The barrel, cocking handle and its cover were shortened and a vertical foregrip was used to replace the standard handguard. The barrel ends at the base of the foresight, which prevents the use of any sort of muzzle device.

Louis Ozawa Changchien(Hanzo): 9mm Beretta 92FS Inox - The Beretta 92 is a series of semi-automatic pistols designed and manufactured by Beretta of Italy. The model 92 was designed in 1972. Inox is short for Inoxidizable, the slide, barrel and minor parts are made of stainless steel instead of black carbon steel. Frame is alloy like the standard FS models with a different finish.

Mahershalalhashbaz Ali(Mombasa): AKMS - The AKM is a 7.62mm assault rifle designed by Mikhail Kalashnikov. It is an upgraded version of the AK-47 rifle and was developed in the 1950s. The main variant of the AKM is the AKMS (S – Skladnoy [Folding]), which was equipped with an under-folding metal shoulder stock in place of the fixed wooden stock.

saw the movie,didnt mind it,yeah the cast was kinda messed up but it had some really good action scenes in it:cool:

Lawrence Fishburn keeps me from watching it. I might wait for the DVD.
No knife action ? Thats disappointing to know.

Lawrence Fishburne has about a 15 minute cameo appearance in the film, not a major role, so don't let that stop you.
As for knife action, there's a few scenes but the best would probably be the Chinese(?) mafia/triad guy who sword fights with a predator in a grassy field at night.
The movie is what it is, it's not bad but I was expecting more.

I saw it yesterday and it was better than I expected. The original was better, but this one was better than any of the sequels I've seen and better than a lot of action flicks I;ve seen lately (Transformers 2, for example.) Brody was solid. Came off like Bear Grylls meets Clint Eastwood.

Knife content:

  • Topher Grace's Doctor character has what looks like a folding scalpel or maybe some sort or slipjoint that he uses.
  • The death row convict has a prison shank that attempts to go medieval on a predator.
  • The Japanese guy finds an ancient Samurai sword and goes to town with it.
  • Brody has a Bowie knife the size of a machete that he uses as a machete and the TOPS type knife described earlier. He pulls it out of the chest rig into an icepick grip to stab a scorpion or something -- looked fluid.

The AA-12 shotgun is the baddest weapon ever. I WANT ONE! But brody using it.......god I hate that skinny tard. I hear the movie is terrible - so-so, I won't pay to see it. My fellow predator fans at work sad VERY mediocre and parts of it just plain stupid.

I really enjoyed this movie. Saw it opening night. It had it's flaws and I still prefer P1 and P2 but this was definately a step up from the AVP movies. Also while intitially I didn't like the designs of the new Preds, they have really grown on me especially the Falconer (the one that fight Hanzo).

I liked this movie, saw it on the weekend and will say while P1 and P2 are always going to be remembered as the classic predator it does reawaken the franchise to new possibilities...them making it that the predators have been abducting warriors and soldiers from earth makes for a cool concepts in the future, AVP was dead from the first, it had no room to grow.

Loved the massive bowie, especially the head lopping scene.
