wow~ who'ed ever thunk ta do that ?
gee~ i mighta coulda got outa HS bfore i could buy beer doing that! :grumpy:

The only paperwork with the knife was the green warranty sheet.
No "This Side Up" on the blade either.

B110 (or anyone else)...
Received a 119 Buckcote. Don't know the diff between "gold" and "champagne", Am thinking it is the Z4 though.

Here's the area I'd like some opinions or facts on...
It has never been sharpened. And, looks like it has never been used when I look at it under a glass.
Tang stamped as a 1996 119.
The warranty paperwork has the El Cajon address on it.
BUT, the sheath is a cordura snoopy.
The box is labeled "C119-Z01"

What's with the "Z01" and was Buck doing cordura back in 1996?

Thanks...

Goose I am glad that you are faster on the mouse than me! You just saved me a pile of cash ;)
My guess to that sheath and box designation is it was one that Buck packaged up and sold in the Buck store. The box matches several of my rarities that were sold off before Buck moved to Post Falls.
I believe they packaged up and sold any to prevent scrapping them or having to move them. That sheath is not the original one they came with. (I don't believe) Sweet deal none the less!!!
Congrats.

Thanks for the reply.

LOL Jim...I was gonna e-mail ya about that one in case you hadn't seen it.
But then the little devil on my shoulder said "BUY IT!!".

For $85 shipped and insured, well, the devil made me do it.

I didn't think the sheath was right. But no worries for the price I figure.

Thats what the devil on my left shoulder said too Goose! But you were faster! I am happy it went to a great home!!!!
I think the knife is definately worth that! Its still original from buck ;)
Is it a user????????

Wait, what was so special about these? The edge was coated?
The blade is coated and you only sharpen one side.
Sharpening only one side keeps the coating as part of the actual cutting edge. If you sharpened both sides of the coated blade, the coating would be of no use in the actual cutting action as both edges would be exposed 420HC.

Here's a thread and there are others if you search for "Buckcote" or "Ionfusion":

FWIW, I used a 110 Jigged Asian Buff with Z4 Buckcote for a month or so. I NEVER have sharpened it and it still to this day is a cutting fiend!!! I did take it outta my 110 rotation, but it is still here on my desk to goof with.

Thanks Jimmy Crack Corn...
Yes, I think it will be a user. I will add it to my fixed rotation. BUT, here's the rub, usually I carry a folder (882 ATS-34, 889 420HC, 110 BG-42, 110DM, 110AG S30V, 271 154CM, or 298GY ATS-34). If I need to take out a fixed blade that one of those folders can't handle, I am concerned about the tip of the 119 Buckcote breaking or the edge folding/chipping. So, I will see what happens.

FYI, my current fixed rotation is: 105BP (favorite overall), 120 Pro-Line, 124, 119BP, and 890. Tough crowd.
