The annual celebration of a pivotal event that led to the US winning independence is cancelled due to bad weather. This is incredibly sad. George is undoubtedly rolling around in his grave. I wish he could somehow magically reappear and deliver a nationally televised address to the event organizers about just what they’re worth.
 
It's usually up to the reenactors themselves whether to go forward with an event. Most of these guys are 50 or older and as we age we tend not to take risks. They likely aren't experienced boatmen and are not interested in turning the event into a cold water rescue mission.

At 51, I'd still argue for going through with it, but as an erstwhile reenactor, I am familiar with how these things play out.
