NOTABLE PAIRS : Only traditionals

CelloDan CelloDan wonderful pairing my friend, very satisfying for you. Can't get over how good that Stag Grohmann is...makes my Rosewood version look very dowdy ;)

Gracias amigo 😊

I lucked out on that stag 🦌.

I had ordered the Rosewood version actually based on the recommendation of a Canadian woodsman/bushcraft guy on Youtube who prefers Rosewood as for him is more comfortable to hold in extended use.

Somehow the order fell through the cracks between the dealer and Grohmann factory.

After 3 months and a couple of calls and emails I was offered any handle of my choice for the same price as Rosewood. 👍

I said buffalo horn at first 🐃, afraid of rolling the dice on stag 🦌

Feeling more adventurous the next dayI called them back and gambled on stag.

I am happy I did 😊 Their website states that stag is in limited quantities due to the stag ban ( not sure what it refers to)

I would agree though that the wood version is more comfortable to hold after handling a couple of Rosewood ones.

CelloDan CelloDan You made the RIGHT choice though Dan and Stag only gets better with handling note. The Stag ban refers I think, to the control of the export of Sambar Stag the Indian govt. made to protect the species from poachers. Good thing too as they shed their antlers annually unlike horned animals.

The Rosewood is comfortable and the knife is one of the best outdoor knives you can get: great for food prep, fish gutting and even fire curls, ergonomic is a lame understatement :D Not too big but enough blade size, BIG favourite of mine Bravo Canada!

Greg, the Western catalogs describe them as having resin-impregnated hardwood handles.

Thanks for the info on the Western knife, Jeff. Interesting that they modeled these after the larger Westlocks and named them Shortcuts. :)
I'm taken by the drop point 532 model so I think I'll be on the look out for one of those at the flea markets.
