I don't get it. I'm not a fan of the hollow handle sawbacked knives, but many here are. I don't think they feel they are novelties.

Maybe I missed something...

I was making fun of the knife! IN a sarcastic kind of way since I got ripped a new one on survivalistboards telling me I was stupid for buying it and that it was junk and made in china and didn't have a full tang, etc.

Marcinek was making fun of you. :D

For once. no. :) Just pointing out that there are members here who are huge fans/users of that style knife, and I might imagine they wouldn't appreciate them being called novelties.

Maybe tnknifeman can show us a knife he likes.

If I had to "survive" I would be very glad to have any piece of steel with an edge.

Because , really, if you are going to die if you have knife brand/style x instead of brand/style y, well you will probably die anyway.

Now, I was making fun of you. :D

Ive heard good reviews on the surv tac 7. I don't care anything about joe teti. He is lying scum as far as I am concerned. You can like a knife without liking a person.

Look I didn't mean to upset or offend anyone. I was being sarcastic. This whole post was sarcastic. I got ripped on survivalist boards saying I wasted my money buying this knife and that it was a novelty and not worth a damn and that Frost Cutlery sucked BLAH BLAH BLAH. So i guess you guys didn't get my sarcastic tone! Sorry!

Truthfully, I like the knife. Of course I wouldn't use it to baton wood or chop trees but for general camping or a general purpose knife it gets it done. I know its not a full tang and that everyone says knives without full tangs are crap. The mora bushcraft is not a full tang but people baton with it all the time!

You missed my sarcasm. Maybe I should have made my self clearer which I feel I have now.

Marcinek is right. There's nothing "novelty" about a vintage survival knife. While most us us now don't think highly of the hollow handle design or the exaggerated spine serrations these days, back when we were stll young those knives, popularized by Jimmy Lile's
Rambo; First Blood knife were the epitomy of manliness, and huge boom to the knife industry. Ever factory and custom maker made such models at the time. I still have my Buckmaster 184 that I bought in 1985. I couldn't afford a Chris Reeve Mark IV or an Al Mar SERE 3000.

Maybe those guys know alot about "survivalism" but they don't know knives to the extent that your "novelty" is an example of
what created the term "survival knife" some 34 years ago. Eff'em.

Here is a knife I like just one of many aside from by buck folders, smith and wesson extreme ops folder, and ken onion kershaw vapor II. I have the knife below headed this way it should be arriving today.

First welcome to the forum.

Second, it's bad form to throw another forum into the mix here. Leave the problems you have there, make a new start here.

THis.
No crossforum action please, nothing good comes from it and we would just rather not go there.

I know that!

First of all, welcome of course.

Second, you jump to a lot of conclusions. You assumed I was making fun of you. I wasn't.

You came in and said it was a "novelty knife" that you were "making fun of it". And I pointed out that the members here that favor and use knives like that probably would not appreciate that.

Now that you have gone back and edited your posts to say that it is a "Novelty survival knife lol ACCORDING TO PEOPLE ..." and that you were "..making fun of the knife! IN a sarcastic kind of way since I got ripped a new one ...." I'm sure people get what you were going for.

But we aren't mindreaders and dont know/care what has happened to you on another site. Another assumption.

That said, enjoy your knives.

And on topic...that Surv Tac is only exceeded in its silliness by the Hellion. Utter knife design nonsense (but marketing brilliance) in my opinion.
