Novelty survival knife lol ACCORDING TO PEOPLE ON SURVIVALISTBOARDS!

I don't mind the design. You're right; one does not need full tang for a knife to be usable in the woods. Also, some people like a sawback.

However, the grind on this particular knife ensures that, while it may split wood decently, it will never cut well compared to sleeker profiles. The steel used is undoubtedly of a quality that will dull quickly, which is not something I prefer in woods use. Personally, my knives have to stay sharp while being easy to sharpen so...carbon steel. I believe that the money would have been better spent on a Condor or a Cold Steel Bushman, but that's just my opinion, from experience using those items.

$15 didn't break your bank. If you like it, use it. If you just like the look, hang it on the wall and do some research on utility-intensive fixed blades. Kudos.

I have a kabar 1211. Yeah 15.00 didn't break my bank.

Kabar is a good start. Are you in search of a fighting knife, or a woodsy knife, or a bit of both? I strongly recommend the Beckers that Kabar offers, as they marry the two ideas together very well. I'm a big ESEE fan, but the BK7 and BK9 have the edge IMO when it comes to mixing woods blades with a piercing tip. However, I sold a lot of fixed blades and the only knives I have left of the Beckers are the BK15 and BK16. The BK17 is the smallest Becker with a clip point. Think of them as beefed up Kabars.

My first thought was to put down Frost Cutlery. Why bother really? They don't mis-represent their products. But you know, there is a place for everything in this world and that includes $15 survival/tacticool knives. Tiime to head out to the local state park and do some surviving. :D

Pot takers love those hollow handles, you can put your ganj in there

The Frost brand today doesn't command much respect. To be honest even 35 years ago they were associated with
"economicaly priced" products. They like maby other companies were overshadowed by big popular names like Gerber and Buck.
But they have a long history in the American knife industry. Back in te 1980s most of their stuff I saw were imported from Japan and they were all over the Smokey Mountain catalogs. Looks to me like just another US knife compay having to do what had to be done to survive economically. They still own other brands like Hen & Rooster, German Bull, so not everything they sell is from the the Yangjiang discount bin.

Maybe I missed it but if it was not said it will be said now.

Frost cutlery is garbage, if you don't realize this fact then stick around a while and you will understand. Personally, I place them in the same category as QVC late night specials, wall hangers, and Pakistan knives.

If you have any concern for your own personal safety then I would recommend you never use such knives.

Frost isn't garbage. It's far from quality. However it's not Jarbenza either. My daughter liked a Frost slip joint and it's well made. It sharpens pretty nice. It's no super steel. It'll have to be sharpened more often. But it does what a knife needs to and it looks good to her.

Frost cutlery has some problems with the marketing methods.

And it appears they import alot of Chinese and Pakistani knives today, but then, many knife companies do.
Gerber and Buck are reported to be as high as 30-50% Chinese imports. An issue of marketing practices
doesn't determine whether a knife brand is all "garbage". Cold Steel is an example..LOL.
Frost was never a high end knife but they sold some fairly decent knives back when they were partnerd with Parker. After they split Parker continued as kong as they could to carry on on with their Seki Japan imports whereas Frost took the path of
"as cheap as possible". Like all low end Chinese made knives they will do what all such knives are capable of, and I don't think one
should expect anything more.

Thats a beauty! Wow! Very nice one! Now i am very confused, whats the origin of this i only guess Britt Gudowsky's Black Starr,,,or...... (United or Master Cutlery?)

Frost Cutlery knives are what they are. Nobody said that they are high quality. They don't claim that their chinese manufactured knives are high quality. If I were a kid today, I'd probably own a few and be glad that I have them because that is probably all I could afford. Vic SAKs aren't high quality knives in terms of their steel, but I use one every day.

Lol nope thats a Martin knives custom MCE2, s35vn steel, 9.5inch blade. Its in a bit of a different price range than the Frost knife though.

It comes with a very well made custom sheath from Shephard custom leather.

Amazing knives these guys are making, love the one Lile's design you have really. They do more designs of hollow handle, but as you said, there is difference between hollow handles constructions and durability will depend on steel, heat treatment and the way how this cavity in handle is made..I believe that these knives can easy hold in lateral toughness better even more than some full tangs....So there is exception to everything really...
