OT- Eight Buddhist Symbols

These symbols are favorites for engravers who often put them on khukuri blades -- interesting to me since the engravers are most often Hindu.

As Bill mentioned all these symbols can be worked into designs for everyday life or the fanciest kothimora. Sometimes they are integrated so well you have to do some serious searching and deciphiring to discover them. Here are the Nepalese terms for them:

conch shell...sankha
lotus...padma
wheel....chakra
parasol....chhatra
fish....matsya
victory banner.....dhowja
treasure vase....poorna kalasa

Beo will probably knows more variations, but these are the basic terms.
