OT: just had my first kiss...

I don't know Chuck. It's off topic, but in the time that I've been here we have talked about all manner of Bali related topics. I think that we may be running out of new things to talk about. Maybe a social thread or two wouldn't hurt. We Bali folk are a sub culture all our own. But on the other hand, it is nice to be able to come here and read only Bali related material. I guess if I had a vote, I'd say lets have a FEW off topic threads.

I think SOME off-topic is ok. As someone said, we are like friends in here.

I used to run a BBS, and often when I stepped in and stopped an off-topic discussion in a forum, what happened was that people got less motivated to write, and eventually the forum could die. You can't force people to write about a certain subject. Any discussion is better than NO discussion.
I don't think that's the problem here, cause there are new topics popping up all the time, and we have a common interest that draws us here. But if there was just a little less action here, people would check in less and less often, and there's a bad circle for you.

Anyway, when something major happens in my life, I intend to tell the world! If the Bali forum is a big part of my world at that time, I will tell you guys! :cool:

as for having a significant other into knives.. it is always good to get things straight.. many girls think Knives are a BAD vice (liek alchohol or smoking or whatnot) and can really get pushy at times.. hey guys are liek that too.. holier thatn thou at moments.

but as a counter anecdote.. I have friend who has a Girlfriend who, althogh not into knives can spot and appraise a bali or any knife by a mile.. so sadly he can't do the "oh honey that Balisong that says Bali-Song USA' is justa china cheapie worth 20.00. So DO keep watch on how much you wannt share

Same place you find a hand made Balisong knife in the Philippines. Unless your into the bar scene, most of the women in the Philippines who are looking for a husband, have never even been kissed by a man. It's just not in their culture to do that.

They have a very low divorce rate also, only around 15%. Even the bar girls that come over here to marry americans only have about a 20% divorce rate. Compared to a 40% divorce rate most everywhere else.

Then look at the benifit that your mother in law is 12,000 miles away and when you do go to visit her, you can stock up on all the balisong knives you want

As a Christian that has studied the Bible for over 20 years I believe the Bible teaches we are to use Balisongs to build up, strengthen and to be creative, not to tear down and to destory. For example, God provides all the materials we need to build our house, but it's up to us to actually build it, and we need a knife to do that.

Jesus told His followers to carry a sword, but not to use it, that those who live by the sword will die by the sword. What it all comes down to, is we have angels assigned to work with us, and we let them fight the battles for us. If we want to fight the battles ourselves, we can, but it's a very inefficient way to go about it.

One of the most powerful warrior angels is Michael. He gets involved in the big battles, where hundreds of thousands of people are involved.

A Balisong is a very simple weapon, perhaps the Bible would consider it more of a dagger than a sword. The most powerful weapon is when they split a tiny little atom and that sets us a chain reaction that can destroy a city. But the ressurrection power of God, is more powerful than an atomic bomb. The Puritans were the origional founders of this county. We did trace our family back and found someone on one of the origional three ships to come over here.

Right now, we are members of the Methodist church. I study and try and follow the sermons of John Wesley from over 300 years ago when it comes to being a "puritan"

Seriously though, good on you. It's especially nice to find a girl that doesn't run away at the first sight of a knife. I'm lucky too, in that my girlfriend doesn't mind knives - she even has one of here own, although its not a Bali (it's a CRKT LUS), she does like the looks of my Jaguar with the black plastic inserts, but try as I might, I can't get her to try and twirl it - I expect my bloodied knuckles and growing collection of cuts has put her off. Oops, I'm sorry I got so caught up in the nostalgic memory of it all that I'm wandering off subject.

Take it easy.

Darth, great story, congratulations. My first kiss was in college and it was a drunken mess of a hookup with a girl I did not really like. Not exactly a pleasant memory. Let us hope this girl of yours wants another soon. Relax, be yourself and be thankful, don't rush anything. If she makes the first move you can't go wrong, My wife kissed me first and SHE asked ME to get married.
