ot. military combat axes {with pix.}

Neat stuff Spiral! I have several "modern" axes, but nothing with so much history behind it. That boarding axe is the one I would love to find someday. Thanks for the cool pics and sharing their history.

Regards,

Norm

Hi Satori, That fixing method for aircraft sounds likely, as the inner metal edges of the whole have a smooth rounded profile {within there thickness} withought the edges elsewhere on the axe head. That would them seem to be by logical deduction for a definate reason & I think youve ,probably hit the nail on the head.

Glad all you guys liked seeing them! & from what info Tom provided The crash axes must turn up in the states as well.

Spiral.

I have the Ontario Spec Plus version of the crash axe in my truck. We call it Ol' Reliable. It has to be the single most effective tool for taking apart old above ground pool walls. As a matter of fact, it is the history of this blade shape that prompted me to buy it. I mean plane skin is sheet metal. Pool walls are sheet metal. Looked like it'd be perfect for the job. However, that particular make will require some serious tool use if you ding it up. I've never gotten my sharp again. The edge is just a smashing wedge shape. It's also shorter than the original version. Still, it's a handy little axe that has withstood the beatings i've given it for 5 years. I've found that the hole in the blade was useful in pulling out tentpegs.

hey Spiral,

well to answer your post (without trying to start anything),

Thanks man! that is a real generous offer mate. you know however that it goes both ways. you ever up in T.O I'll treat you first to the world's greatest coffee, no contest.

Tim Horton's coffee. no other coffee in the world comes close.

As for famous food, T.O doesn't really have a speciality, but there are plenty of pubs I can take you to. You can also fill yourself stupid with Cdn beer, not that water those yanks refer to as beer ;) <flame>

I'm actually not yet a collector of hawks. i've been really looking at a company called American Tomahawk. there is something about a good axe that ... well, it's hard to explain. i'm dying to buy one though, but i need to study them.

someone asked me if I found the term Oriental offensive. i have no idea where to begin on how to answer this.

i guess the bottom line is,

i don't care.

A friend of mine once showed me an axe that purportedly had been in his family for many, many generations.
As he explained to me, over all those years it has had several new hafts and a couple of heads replaced. ;)
:D :D :D

Hi Dave,

Thats sounds cool , I am a cofee fan although must admit Ive never heard of tom hortons.{not that means anything!}

Real beer in Canada as well? wow must be just those south of your border & in sunny Oz land who have the boys beer then! :D

in the past ive found good axes turn up amongst the rubbish at yard sales & seconhand tool dealers sometimes. Ebay sometimes as well but axe collectors normaly spot the rarer ones. {but maybe not in Canada?}

cheers,
Spiral.

naw, no weapons here in T.O. probably the most anti-weapon capital in North America. We won't equip our policeforce with tazers for some reason, and funny thing is, we are the largest and richest city in Canada... but we won't buy our police a single helicopter.

i got a talking to for bringing in my kagnas katne to work to use as a letter opener.
