OT: Whats your favorite SHTF Handgun and why?

Glock 34.
Oh, and I forgot to add a knife. Hmmm. I really like my FBM. Assuming I had something a little smaller (e.g., pocket knife) for finer work, I would take the FBM.

If I did not have a smaller option, I would be between my Boss Jack and Dog Soldier. Prob DS as I think the resi handle is a better overall option for constant use.

G19, not sure on the blade.

SHTF: If you're really talking true SHTF, it'll be dirty, loud, chaotic, desperate, resupply may be neccessary, concealment will be necessary, bartering may be necessary, weapon maintenance will be the last thing on your mind.

Gun: Glock. Ubiquitous. Interchangeable parts. Runs dirty. Runs broken. One time found Id been shooting off and on for months with one of the lug pins snapped clean in two. Wouldnt have even known it, til I broke it down.

Caliber: I love 45. Love it. But 9 mm is the most available, and lightest of the 3 main calibers. Its easiest to acquire AND easiest to sell/trade, should that be necessary. Easiest for the wife to use too.

Answer: G19. I realize there are competing polymer, striker-fired brands that would be as durable, but they aren't ubiquitous.

Agree with Glock 19, likely with G17 and G18 mags.

My go to grab “one knife” would have to be something in 8” blade- SHSH2, Gossman BBT, or NMSFNO, or B8.

I only own 3 handguns, yet the choice is still hard. I'm thinking my HK45 because it's comfortable and I shoot it much better than my G17 or USP9. But the others carry many more rounds. Ideally, I'd like to have a suppressor for it. For the knife, probably take the TGULB.

Based on common ammo + capacity, I'd have to take my 5906. Should probably own a Glock by now, but I don't.

Think I'd grab the Boom Parang to come along. Just handles so well for me and feel it's versatile enough to fill a lot of roles.

I don't normally make recommendations but the old smith steel semi auto guns are notoriously unreliable. Get something else. The new m%p series are excellent. But the old 4 digit guns are horrible

If the S hit the F then I'm taking this handgun

You know your zhit. Some nice tools there.

Thanks.

I know it's probably blasphemous to say on a knife forum but I'm a gun guy first and a knife guy second but both are equally important to own imo. If I could only have one tool during the apocalypse it would be a knife.

A quality knife will last longer than ammo in any serious event. Which is why we would always take a good knife with us.
