Paracord Ranger Pacing beads customized to the specifications of Michael Neiger, Lead Investigator of Michigan Backcountry Search and Rescue - keep track of your pace count on those hikes and bushwhacks like the Army Rangers do. Each bead is hand woven from paracord. Secure to carabiner or belt using integrated loop. Beads are made tight and will not slide on their own. Fixed knots allow solid grip for sliding back beads. Each is hand crafted to your order. The "official" set includes olive drab lanyard and your choice of black or OD beads. Tons of other colors available. Price: $15.95 + $3 shipping.

"The Paracordist's Store specializes in all things 550 paracord. At MiBSAR's request, Kevin created a special edition of his unique paracord-based ranger pacing beads, which are currently in use by some of our troops in Afghanistan. To meet MiBSAR's operational needs, they're optimized for stealth and concealment. A balanced mix of olive drab and black provide a subdued appearance while larger stopper knots allow the Turk's Knots-turned-beads to be used by feel alone, which is essential on night operations. Known as the MiBSAR Special Operations Ranger Pacing Beads, Kevin's high-quality, handmade pacing beads are standard equipment on all MiBSAR wilderness operations. Special thanks to Kevin Gagne of The Paracordist's Custom Creations for supporting MiBSAR's efforts at reuniting missing loved ones with their families.

As for your paracord-based Ranger pacing beads, after months of real-world field testing they came through several SAR field operations, a 9-day Canadian Expedition to Soldier Mountain, and a 6-day trek through the remote McCormick Wilderness Tract with flying colors. They have withstood repeated deep-water crossings, day-long downpours, temps to 100 degrees, and abuse against trees, brush, rocks, mud, and bedrock with no sign of wear or change in function. I really appreciate the snug fit of the unbreakable beads on the pace cord as nothing but a firm grip will move them, which could really foul up a technical land nav operation. And the slightly-larger separator beads make it very easy to pull or reset the pacing beads without stopping to look at them, especially while underway or during night operations. They're the best I've used in the bush, and all I ever carry anymore. Keep up the innovative work. Hope our Special Ops forces are using these as they're so much better than some of the fragile, loose-fitting commercial stuff available." --9/14/10 Michael Neiger Lead Investigator of the Michigan Backcountry Search and Rescue team
