Here's the latest piece I finished for am upcoming show. It's my take on a 17th century Persian kard. This was an incredibly difficult piece for me to photograph.

10" blade of 1084 & 15n20, 14 3/4" overall
416 stainless fittings with fileworked heat blued accent spacer
Carved African blackwood handle
Decorative fileworked spine

Lots of work for that one John - lots of great, subtle details. Looks like you haven't been fishing or blowing shit up lately. :)

Very nice looking knife, you’ve got a lot elbow grease into this one.

Thanks everyone. I appreciate it.

Very interesting, can we get a shot of the spine?

I'll try to get one later.

Is that Damascus section separate or is the blade etched that way?

The whole blade is 1084 & 15n20, selectively etched in just the ricasso/plunge/upper spine area to give nod to the damascening, filigree or engraving so often seen on that area of the blade of kards.

Thanks TK. Yeah work's been cutting into my fun time drastically.

The pattern welded section is very reminiscent of damascene - it goes quite well with this build.
Exactly. Thank you for the comment.

Thanks! I think if you're going to do file work it has to be perfect...yours looks perfect.
