The fun part is even when you're a gold member and go to upload directly to the website 95% of the time it says your image is too large and won't upload it or automatically resize it. You have to go through all the hassle yourself to do that unless I'm missing something.

I was using tapatalk on my phone which was smooth as silk but now it's disabled due to the new site.

Photo bucket is done and I'm done with them
already made a account with Imgur and it works .

This is a test picture from my computer just wanted to see if it works .
Yep worked great easy as pie . " GOOD BYE PHOTOBUCKET "

been with photobucket for these last 3 years, its free and never had any problems with them, only thing is they keep bugging me to have them make prints!or make a photo books, its all part of it don't you see.

I think the issue just has not hit your account yet... reading the new terms of service, the $25/yr ad free membership does not entitle you to image hosting....

I believe this is correct. I'm in the same boat as DeSotoSky, and I suspect it's just a matter of time before others are too. According to Photobucket, users now have to upgrade to their 500 plan if they want 3rd party hosting.

Yes, apparently I am a early target also. I received a photobucket email and thought it was spam and sent it off to spam'sville.
But, alas all the how too photos, blade show photos, BCCI newletter copies and 300 photos are gone from the Buck Forum.

I have not dug into photobucket yet, it still appears my name and password is alive, I just get the same term of service statement page as some of you others. I would recommend that those that can still log on and save all you photos on a thumb drive or other spot where they can be retrieved by you. I likely have some or most of mine in memory, but I will lose a bunch from when another CPU crashed but the photos were still on photobucket.

I have (HAD) about 2500 photos in pb I think. I have been there for at least 10 years but will abandon the bucket ASAP. If I can. I tried going into one spot and all I got was a old photo of ONE of my Blade Show displays. Looks like we need to figure the way to get our photos out. If I could somehow just get to them to save them I will be happy. But, I am not going to pay $400 when Blade Forums has supposed to have made posting photos from your own computer memory easier. If anyone has any retrieval luck methods please post it here. 300Bucks

Reading on a number of other forums there is quite a bit of alarm/concern. A lot of them like the car forums have extensive build threads heavily imaged. All that image information will be lost on those forums without rebuilding from another host.... a lot of work and I suspect many will not be rebuilt. There will be a lot of lost historical information across all hobby forums.

I was able to easily download all my libraries from Photobucket this morning. It is the only thing I have done on Photobucket recently that actually worked smoothly. You can download entire libraries at a time as a zip file, it goes real fast. I had over 1,600 images in 8 libraries. I had a library for each calendar year. Everyones images are still in their accounts, only the links to forums have been broken.

My advice to everyone is to download your images ASAP if you don't have them on your PC, even if your links are still working at the moment. I think PB's future is cloudy.

I knew something fishy was going on with photobucket when I logged in a few days ago and got massively bombarded with ALL the ads.
Then again if you think of all the bandwidth the photo's posted use up, they gotta pay the bills somehow. Don't know how imgur is able to afford it.

Yeah - Photobucket has been good to me for 10 years, I have never ordered prints from them. Walgreen and Walmart are so much simpler, I just print and pick them up the next day. And I rarely order prints.

Still it will be a pain if photo hosting stops being free. Lots of great "How To" articles will be gone.

Probably everyone who has photos on Photobucket is upset, but at least they still have their photos. Real damage is being done to the various internet forums, which suddenly have lost one of their main reasons for existence. There must be something like the "Internet Forums Association" that could try negotiating with Photobucket. One possibility might be to put existing photos in an archive account which would restore them to the forums. New photos would then be subject to the new policy.

I don't know if what I found is important but it is photobucket album settings.
It's photobucket.com/settings/albums. It has about links and check boxes for imgs, codes and links. I only have IMG codes checked and turn on easy linking mode checked.
I don't know if this helps. I went back and posted pics in old forums no problem, I just clicked on copy and went to bladeforums and clicked paste and the photo appeared in link form and clicked SAVE CHANGES.

I have photobucket working for me now. You have to get to the settings and I bookmarked the page so now I can work with it and make it easier. Every picture I selected went into an old post just fine but I have changed the process IMG and then copy go to Bladeforums and click edit and paste ,then save changes. For a new pic I guess it would be write what you want and then get the pic from Photobucket and proceed.

Quote from a different forum, "It seems some people have been linking to Photobucket using copy/paste instead of embed codes, and so far they are not shut off. But the terms of service were changed to forbid this type of use unless you subscribe at the 399 dollar a year level."

I have been copying and pasting the IMG and it works, apparently a loophole that will be cut off soon?

Wow, I am not a paying member of pb either. I have two accounts full of photo's. About a year ago my main account got close to being full and they locked both accounts asking for money. I was able to go into the main account and delete a bunch of photo's. Then was able to update my secondary account and link it to my mobile phone thus allowing me to get 8 g of free storage space.

I sure hope I'm not next. Like Roger I have twelve years worth of photo's saved and linked to threads. The last time they had a big system update that forced you to open files all the old image links were broken when the image was moved to a file. This just sucks.

I am now on Imgur and it is a learning curve but it works so much better than Photobucket and no ads. I have all my pictures on this hard drive or on external drives. So I just have to upload them on Imgur.

I'll have to check out Imgur. I was able to down load most of my photos last night off of PB. I had a lot of not only knife phots but family vacation photos from years gone by. I was glad to be able to download them but still not happy about all my photos gone from other sites.

Using Photobucket or similar operations is a convenience but it should not be used as sole storage. I think everyone would be wise to have all of their photos stored on their computer or on an external storage device. Switching from Photobucket to something like Imgur may just be a delaying tactic until other hosting operations follow Photobucket.
