Put the HDMC and FK2 to work yesterday trying to make my Amur maple look a little less like a bush. I cut it back earlier to make it less of a tree ans more of a shrub but oh well, gives me something to mess with.

It's not like I was chopping walnut but it's not super soft wood either.

HDMC wacks stuff good.

Spent quite a bit of time with the FK2 afterwards. Pretty much perfect for me and what I was doing. Completely comfortable after bearing down on it pretty good for a couple hours. Getting the hole notched out was a bit problematic for the tip but that was also a pretty narrow hole that was about 1/2" thick.

Hadn't done any of this stuff for a while but I managed to keep from stabbing myself so that was good.

I beat on the spine of the FK2 for all the stop cuts, didnt show at all on the knife except for the pieces of the baton coming off on it.

Still dry shaved after all that.

The handle comfort was what really sold me on the FK2 though. I thought it was going to be great before hand, now I know it. Just as well designed as the HDFK scales IMO.

I'm in Spokane Wa. so the east side of the state. As the morning went on

I guess I know what I'm doing today but no choppers because the power line is still on, for now:eek:

Looked like that here today. ('Cept our power lines are underground where I live.) 4" on the ground of heavy, wet snow by this evening. It's only 16º right now!

Very nice work Chip! Turned out awesome, I like it!

Just luv the MC, my most fave CPK-Chopper.! This is a hard thing to say because gosh, I’ve had 15+ of CPK’s choppers going through my grubby mitts.

Somehow the MC became understated (and dare I say somewhat under appreciated?) in the shadow of its beefier skull-crushing siblings but word to the wise: it’s the most practical where the carrying weight as a proportion to strength really matters :)

I think so as well; seems like the HDMC got a lot more attention. For “chopping” it most likely does better with the extra steel but I personally don’t really chop that much with a knife. It rocks for machete-like work and feels pretty fast which is my use and want for it.

Not to mention the profile of the tip is a bit more stabby or pointed which is aesthetically a little more pleasing IMO

Grog was kind enough to sell his Proto Behemoth Chopper with this beautiful sheath to me and I’m loving it!

This is one fast knife for being so damn big and I was expecting it to be a bit awkward weight wise, but it isn’t.

Great job Carothers team and a huge thank you to Grog. Your sheath work is amazing!

Time to get it dirty!!
