I’ve seen the Southeast Asian giant centipede up close, while backpacking/hiking there.
Got bitten by a little centipede (~1”) when I was a kid (saw it running around, so I scooped it up with a handful of soil, to look at it more closely. It was running around in the handful of soil, but the moment it encountered bare skin, it stopped, paused for a moment, and bit).
Did NOT want to mess with the giant one. We were hiking up a steep section of a trail. I just stopped and watched it cross the trail, then continued climbing.
The giant desert centipede freaks me out. It lives in the southwestern U.S. and has a pretty nasty bite. Does weird things to people. Watch some YT videos on it.Centipedes are a curse too. Here not so bad, but SE Aisa & South America, they can be terrible, if the wrong one. I can’t stand any of them, worse than spiders![]()
No thanks, they freak me out here to begin with, freaking 1.5” fuzzy bastidsThe giant desert centipede freaks me out. It lives in the southwestern U.S. and has a pretty nasty bite. Does weird things to people. Watch some YT videos on it.
