I just ordered a Pioneer X because I really like the regular Pioneer I have carried for so long, and the X has scissors.

What can I expect? Is this knife going to be a boat anchor or will it be the slickest, coolest multi-tool that I hope it will be?

I think you’ll find it to be a nice knife to carry and use. Not too thick at all.

I like it. Heavier duty than a Compact, more like the Farmer version of a Super Tinker. I like it.

It's not the lightest knife, but very pocketable none the less. I really like mine and I'm not going on vacation without it.

Well, it arrived today. It came very fast.

It is what I hoped. It has a practical tool set and is not as ungainly as other brands of multi tools tend to be.

The thicker handle is in some ways a good thing. It is hand filling...in the best way...and so is comfortable to actually use.

I know some frown on the pocket slip carry, but I have an “X”, and I’ve had it slip loose out of a front pocket at least twice....but luckily found it. I had similar issues with the Farmer too. Weight wise, 3 layer Alox Vics are my limit.
I bought a Hitch and Timber sleeve, and not only does it sit upright in my pocket, but I’ve never had a problem with my SAK slipping out when lounging in my recliner.

I use the scissors a lot for bandages, threads, those wrist bands they put on you for concerts/bars/hospitals, and sometimes for cutting my nails. I have the Alox Pioneer X. I think the blade might be harder to fold out, but I don't have a regular Pioneer to compare it to.

I have the pioneer x with a saw. It comes in handy at work when I'm making peep holes in walls. (Plumber)

I'm looking at getting the scissor version down the road as a backup/alternate carry option. 20190313_100456-2241x3984.jpg
I carry mine every day at work loose in my front pocket and I don't even notice it.

I must correct you: There is no such thing as a pioneer with a saw. That Victorinox is called the Farmer.
Ah, you must be right. I'm not overly familiar with the models. I know I did have a blue special edition pioneer before this farmer. I bought this to replace the pioneer I lost and still refer to it as my pioneer.

Same family. The farmer has been along a lot longer, and the X is the new kid. Its a forgivable mistake.

Of course it is an understandable mistake; the correction was simply for whoever stumbles upon the thread and does not know any better.

marcus52AR marcus52AR : You've got a really nice piece there. I've been wanting to get a blue alox SAK for some time but find it hard to justify the 2-3x higher price just for the color...

DLT trading.? Thanks looks good. Will check it out. Wish my Pioneer Solo came with a key ring. Already slipped out of my pocket while driving. Fortunately it didn’t make it between the seats or I wouldn’t have had any idea where it was. The ability to attach a lanyard would help in my opinion.
May consider carrying one of my small knives with a clip to work instead. The solo will be my coffee table go to knife i think.

E Enkrig These prices from one of our supporting dealers seem very reasonable to me. None of them are more than $5 higher than the Silver Alox variants.

Their prices are quite reasonable indeed. Never occurred to me of checking them out. Thank you so much.

Well, the mail came bringing packages, today. Some of those plastic, dynamite proof, gooey type that snag blades. I pulled out my PX and zipped right through the plastic to get at the goods inside. So many knives and tools look great but are so impractical they cannot do things like this very well. The PX is one that can.
