Pivot screws

I recently got a 2014 mini-15 and a 2013 7V from reputable online dealers and my screws have the notches, so I'm guessing it is standard factory setups.

Here are what my pivots look like:

Yup. Imagine that middle "notch" in the middle and the corners are marred up.

I would say that the finish is worn off in places, but I don't see any damage.

My new mini A-100 looks like that, after being carried only a few times. The corners are the first thing for the finish to wear off in a pocket.

If it bothers you that much, let Emerson send you a new screw (or order one, with an extra set of screws for everything else, if you take your knife apart every once in a while for a deep cleaning, you might eventually strip one) but the new screw will look just like that pretty quick if you actually use your knife.

Just fyi I've heard nothing but bad things about knife art, not saying any of them are true, but they don't appear to be in the best standing among knife guys

I had a problem with a knife bought from KnifeArt. They exchanged it, as requested, problem free.

Now you can't say you've heard nothing but bad things about them :)

Got to say, the new left handed CQC-7 I purchased directly from Emerson a month or so ago came to me perfect. F&F as good as any other knife I've owned (Benchmade, Spyderco, ESEE, etc.).

I haven't bought an emerson for years now. mainly due to fit and finish, blade play and thin liner locks. recently, I purchased a CQC-15 and 8 and I'm amazed with the fit and finishing and the lock was a bit ticker. the only slight blemish issue and found is that the new pivot screws are all marred up. it seems that whoever saw assembling it does not know how to properly tighten screw. upon looking some pictures on google, I guess most pivot screws are marred from the factory.

Maybe you should take a black magic marker, or sharpe to your "pivot screw", that is what I did to mine when I got my New CQC-7 a few months back, and the tiny mark from assembly went bye bye. You know what now I find I am getting specs of lint in the G-10 from the knife being in my jeans. When the lint get to the point of bugging me it takes about 15 second, and an old tooth brush to bush the lint out.

Ok. guys i get it, i get it....here's the problem, the marring that i mentioned was a bit worse from the pictures. mine are raised and bent out type marrings. i have't called emerson yet but i called the dealer regarding the issue. they we're more than happy to replace the knives that i purchased, i sent them pictures of the pivot screw and they agreed that it was indeed out of the norm. i asked them to thoroughly inspect the the knives for locking, blade play and damaged screws before sending out the replacements. i hope that solves everything

I don't know how to post photo, buy my Seven Pivot Screw is about like your or not as custom. Like I said is used a magic marker, and fine point sharpe.

Against the Black G-10 Grips it is not noticeable. No need to re, or new screw it. Like I said too me it is not a big deal.

I bought my Emerson to carry, it gets carried, it is a BLACK BLADE, as it gets used, it develops it own personality, with use marks.

Knifechop, good to hear. Also if I came across as abrasive, I did not mean to. It seems like every other day this forum gets people who like to troll and whatnot. Keep us updated on the solution.

I'm one of those haters that converted on the good side based on my recent purchase LOL. last time I had an Emerson was 2006, when the fit was just bad. I didn't know better and I've seen how Emerson has improved over the years. thicker liner locks, flushed G10. I love it.

Update: I got my replacements and they are superb. a little tighter than the previous but I guess it will break in in time. there's little or no grind marks I see, I guess Emerson is really improving the fit and finish of their knives. although, I don't get why the pivot screws has that notch in the middle. is there a purpose of that? also upon looking pictures online, some of the slots are wavy/crooked.

They may look that way but they are not. Those pivot bolts are that way to accommodate different flat head screwdrivers. You can use a smaller or larger head.

Now that you say that, and I look at it, that's pretty cool. I never noticed that before!
