First I don't normally baton. I do consider it to be borderline abuse.Just my opinion,so don't jump on me. If the knife had failed I would have ordered a new one and not bothered to try out the KaBar warranty.
That said.... I took out my BK11 last week to see just how hard I could use it.
It has been my EDC since I got it,and it will be one knife that will comes with me for outdoor fun once the weather warms up.
This day was 22F after a week of ~10F temps.
A dry warm piece from my basement woodpile for a warm-up
Worked very well so I tried a cold wet piece from outside..
Then on to some pre-winter cut down saplings from my brushpile for some cross-grain batoning.(still green, moist, and very cold inside)
No edge rolling or chipping. And no major blade failure.(I was worried abit half-way through the 1" sapling, took some heavy pounding to make it through )
I did wear off a tiny amount of coating near the edge.
Not a use I would put it to on a daily basis. But its nice to know it will handle it if I needed it to.
