PMP Alpha Beast coming soon, OMG!

Might want to double check "Produced by Reate". Unless I've missed something somewhere... which is possible... all the other PMP knives have been and currently are Produced by Maxace.

Reate is doing the OEM for their Alpha Beast runs. Small runs of 200 to 300 at a time -every couple of years.

Maxace does the OEM for PMP's Grizzly and Berserker models, which, to be fair, are both styled after the Alpha Beast (or the Alpha Beast is styled after them).

I missed the last run, but got in under the wire yesterday at WMK and snagged the last one in plain titanium. I'll post some pictures when it arrives, probably sometime next week. I make no excuses for buying it. I know it's ridiculous, I know it's impractical as a gold plated AK47, but I love it and it'll take pride of place in my folder collection.

Thanks for correcting me on the Reate / Maxace issue. I wasn't aware Reate had any ties at all with PMP. All I knew... unless I'm wrong about this as well... which again, is possible... is PMP designs knives, they don't actually manufacture any of the knives sold under the PMP Knives brand. Correct or Incorrect...?

Wait a minute, I just reread what you said. I think you're confusing the original and current model. The original was the Beast, the Grizzly was basically just a flipper version of the Beast and the Berserker came out "roughly" around the same time but wasn't based at all off the Beast or Grizzly. A BIG folder but a completely different design than the Beast and Grizzly. The current knife, the one manufactured by Reate, is the Alpha Beast.

Sooo, if the original Beast, Grizzly and Beserker limited production models were manufactured by Maxace, the current Alpha Beast... and possibly the soon to be released Smilodon and other one I don't remember the name of... will be PMP Knives' first departure from Maxace. Correct or Incorrect...?

As far as I know, PMP designs and markets, but does not manufacture knives.
The Alpha Beast, Beast, Grizzly, Berserker and Boss share a design "theme".
I know they aren't the exact same knife, but like first cousins, there's definitely a familial resemblance.

PMP Boss (Discontinued)

Working on my reply to your last reply. Give me a minute. I'm not fast at this sh!t 😆🤣😆

PS... the PMP Knives BOSS isn't (Discontinued). Like a lot of the knives you see on PMP's website and social media pages, it's just a computer generated rendering of a knife design, not an actual knife. That's what PMP does. They design computer generated renderings of knives, which they display on their pages, but very few of them actually become real world knives. The BOSS is just one example of that... which sucks because it is a cool looking design.

Don't get me wrong. I'm in 100% agreement with you. I LOVE the Berserker, Grizzly, Beast and Alpha Beast. I actually have a WTB post on here for a Berserker, Grizzly and Beast... and just like you... placed my order with WMK yesterday on the Alpha Beast as soon as I got the In Stock notification.

Ugh, I hate that.
I figured it must have been discontinued, as I couldn't find it anywhere. I never thought about it being a vaporware type of thing.
Things like that should come with a watermark, saying "DESIGN CONCEPT" or something.

Yeah, the computer renderings today are almost impossible to spot. They haven't quite perfected it yet it but it's close. I'm not a computer tech minded guy so how it's done is all above my head.

See attached image. This is PMP Knives. No disrespect whatsoever intended towards PMP Knives. Again, I love some of their knife designs... the key word being "designs". That's what they do.

I understand everyone likes different things, but personally I cannot wrap my head around this knife. Maybe it's just that I've never had the need or desire to stab a tank with a knife, let alone a folder. I don't like wearing belts, which this would most likely require.

Those that are into this, enjoy it. For me. I'll take my lightweight knives.

Of course as soon as I post this I'll probably be attacked by the Juggernaut and need my folder to pry his helmet off!

This is not and was not intended to be, a practical knife. It is meant to be a physical example of a tactical folder ad absurdum.

It is a knife extremus, like the Swiss Champ XXL. Not practical, but very cool.
Not many made and expensive as hell, but enough people (ok MEN. It's always men) are attracted enough to their absurdity, to make them profitable for the maker.

I understand what you're saying and I agree with you completely. "Overbuilt" folding knives aren't practical for use as a pocket knife. However, if when you look at a knife, folding or fixed, and see it as something more than just a tool to cut and stab things with, which was why knives were invented to begin with, thousands or millions of years ago... depending on your beliefs... when they were made of stone, practicality gets pushed to the side, if not thrown out the window. If we're talking practicality , Hell, everyone would still be carrying the same style of folding pocket knives that were carried through most of the 1900's, which was all anyone needed and more than most needed. Obviously, since we're on BladeForums, we're talking about knives. However, the exact same discussion could be had concerning just about anything and everything today... knives, guns, fishing rods, automobiles, motorcycles, boats, lawnmowers, phones, houses, televisions, etc, etc, etc... From a practicality standpoint, the vast majority of what the vast majority has and wants today is far from "practical" or all one really "needs".

I'll step down from my soapbox now. Thank you all for coming. 😆😂🤣
