I got back to the UK this morning. Had a great time at the Atlanta Blade Show, didn't talk to nearly enough people, buy nearly enough knives, enough cool tools or anything like enough wood from Ben at Greenberg Woods...but at least on the last two I am not suffering tooooo much wallet shock! 😄 It was great to chat to so many makers and folk that had driven from across the country.

I hope all the folks from here that were there had a good time, sold enough (or got orders), and got home without delay or problems!

It wasn't in the plan, but I ended up picking up 2x 12" pieces of Magnacut and 2x24" of 1/8 x 1.5 ProCut...really looking forward to making something out of both eventually. I am something of a wood hoarder, having some bits from WSSI that I bought at Blade 2002! My plan buying from Ben was to move the needle on "special" so that I would get off my but and use those older pieces instead of saving them for that special project that never quite comes along. I didn't push the boat all the way out though with any of his African Blackwood Burl 🤤

How was the show for you?

Chris

I got to meet Mr. Buzek. His was the first table on my list to visit. I’ve admired his work since I first saw pictures of it. The pictures don’t do it justice. It was nice to be able to speak with him for a few minutes.

It was my first ever trip to Bladeshow. Almost overwhelming.

That African Blackwood Burl was crazy. I’m nervous enough working with a $50 piece of wood… I’d be sick if I messed up a piece that cost hundreds of dollars.

This Blade Show felt especially quick to me. I talk to people all day for 2.5 days and then it's over. When my family asks me who I talked to and what I learned I can barely remember anything after all of it. I think my class went well but it is always a bit difficult to tell while standing up there presenting it.

Doc, I was hoping to stop and chat with you at the NSM booth but missed you. Talked to the two guys from ERASTEEL though, had a good discussion. Forgot to ask about the future of two specific CPM steel grades.

I wasn't at the booth much I mostly walked around to go find the people to talk to
