The Phoenix-1 Combat is a limited edition version of a popular military knife: the original Phoenix-1. This knife features a super tough hand formed Micarta handle which gives an excellent grip and a comfortable feel. Unlike the molded Elastron-G handles, this handle can be easily removed for cleaning or if you would want wrap the handle with paracord. It also features an oversized glass/ice breaker on the pommel, which gives it a very aggressive look
About the Phoenix:
The popularity of the Phoenix was gained mainly due to its almost indestructible design and good balance. It is built like a T-34 tank. The unique cross-section of the blade, the one-piece blade / tang construction and the strong handle / blade attachment are what equates to the success of this model knife. Blade, guard and tang are milled out of one piece of 7mm thick Russian Full Carbon U8 steel.
The technique used when manufacturing this knife is similar to the process used when milling steel firearm components. The final blade will have and almost unbreakable cross-section, similar to that of a steel I beam used in the construction industry. The blade tang on this model of the Phoenix goes through to the end of the handle and protrudes sharply to a point, being very useful as a glass breaker. The entire blade / guard and tang are all coated with a black oxide finish that is designed to protect the blade from the elements and reduce the glare and light reflection.
