ProCut, new steel, it’s a good one 👍

I did not order any knife steel yet and i'm happy that i didn't! Looking forward to the full knife steel nerds post on this,

Is it tougher, or less tough than 15n20?

If it's a super charged version, good numbers comparing it at equal hardness would be great.

I love 15n20, so this would be interesting.

I'm glad Pops had a variety of thickness. Ill probably try some

Larrin, where is this steel being produced?
I’m curious and want to be able to tell my customers if it is made in USA
Thanks

Larrin can you post the hardness/ toughness graphs that you put on instagram? I would like to print them off for my ht binder
Thanks

anyone have pics of it etched in a billet with something dark? I had some in my cart ,but went the 15n20 way until I see some contrast.

When using ProCut as a stand alone steel for a knife would it benefit from cryo?
It would be similar to other high carbon low alloy steels. A small increase in hardness like 0.5-1 Rc or so.

Not sure why the difference in color (maybe time, darker been sitting a couple hours at room temp, lighter fresh out of kiln).
I used to get fine grain out of 15n20, but nothing as fine as either of these two coupons.

The knife I profiled is in the tempering oven now. Granted, I have only cut out one knife, but this stuff works and machines as good as anything I have ever used.

I've got 4 bars ordered a couple days ago...

Not super how close to 15n20 this will be?

I like 15n20, 8670, Wolfram....
It will be interesting how it compares?
