Hi
Can anybody suggest a wood for a hawk block that would hold up
for awhile with everyday use?

Also does anybody know the distance you have to stand
at a Rendezvous Type hawk compition?

Last I know that the blade can't be over 4" but how long or
short can a handle be?

Check my recent thread on "Hawk Throwing Styles". Two Hawks and a couple others contributed some excellent information on competition throwing distances, rules, styles, etc.

With regard to handle length, I don't know the rules. However, in my limited experience there's a fairly narrow range within which a particular hawk will throw best. There have been discussions in past threads on how to tune your handle length and a search may retrieve that information for you.
