Ranger Knives

I really like the new RD's. V-Ross, that RD9 is a Beaut. I've got the RD7 and RD4 (2nd and 3rd from the right) shown below:

I had an RD-7 that would fall out of the sheath when held upside down, no matter how tightly the velcro strap was fastened.

The scales didn't align w/ the steel.

It hurt to chop with it.

I recontoured the scales, which helped quite a bit as far as feel, but I knew I'd never grab it first, so I sold it.

I much prefer Swamprat or Busse, but granted, those cost more. In the same price range, I'd look at the RAT-7

.

While I love my RD-7 and RD-9, this IS an issue.

On the RD-9 that I have, if I really snug up the velcro keeper strap, the knife does not move even when held upside down and given several good shakes. If the strap is a little looser, it catches on the bottom of the blade - the sorta fingerguard part. Looser than that and it drops out. :o

On my The RD-7, I can get the strap tight enough that the knife starts out but catches on the knife blade at with the RD-9. That's the best I can do.

YMMV

This situation is easily fixed by moving the strap up -- or down - so it matches the thinner part of the handle, as suggested somewhere in this thread. I will mention it to Justin ( a friendly and helpful guy!).
