Really small keychain blade.

Background: I am moving to Poland for a couple of years for a church mission, I have a SAK tinker which I love, but I am looking for a small keychain blade to compliment it. It will mostly be used for cutting tape on packages, opening letters, cutting cuticles, the occasional clamshell package, etc. Here are some requirements for the blade:

* single blade
* Preferably 2" or less
* $35 or less
* Stylish and not aggressive looking
* Locking would be nice but is not a requirement
* Very small build, the goal is to be low profile and not draw attention
* one or two hand open is ok
* If it has a lock, don't want it to be flimsy
* rugged enough to last 2 years of opening packaging and other small random tasks (plus being dropped, scratched by keys, etc.)

I have looked into a few models, spyderco bug, honeybee, or ladybug are all options (I would buy the bug series and just use whichever is most fitting at the time). Kershaw chive, gerber micro lst, sog micron. If you second any of these blades or have any ideas that I am missing, please fill me in.

Thank you

EDIT: I am interested in a small Wharncliffe shaped, single bladed knife. I have never had a Wharncliffe, but my goal is to get something new and different. As far as aesthetics, I do not like the old fashioned scales made of wood or other "mountain man materials" for lack of a better term. I want something sleek and modern, slip joint with synthetic or metal scales and 2" or less. If anyone has a good match for this description, please share. I know that the spyderco kiwi matches this and that is a definite possibility, but I want to know all my options. Thanks for the suggestions.

The Victorinox Classic is almost surely the world's most popular/plentiful knife model, and for good reason. I carry one on my keychain. The Rambler is perhaps slightly better. The Manager is also good. I'd definitely select one of those instead of a small locking blade knife. IMHO, a locking blade isn't that necessary on a keychain knife. And a small Vic adds more functionality as well.

Well, it has more than one blade, but the Vic Classic would be perfect for that duty, IMO. I've had one on my keychain for many, many years.

How about a Kershaw Little Lockback. These are great keychain knives and give you a little more knife to work with than a Vic Classic.

Blade - 2 inches; Closed - 2 5/8 inches; Weight - 1 ounce

I have a couple of these still in their boxes. If I can find them, I'd be more than happy to send you one for your trip.

Let me know...all I'd need is your address.

Steel: VG-10, Handle: FRN, Blade Length: 1.95", Closed Length: 2.51", OAL: 4.46",

Cutting Edge:1.72", Weight: .65 oz. Right around your budget of $40.

The Al Mar Osprey is also a very nice small knife but they start around $70 and go up from there, depending on handle material.

I second Spyderco, but I would go with the rust proof H-1 in the dragonfly II Serrated. You never know what could happen in two years, and with a small piece of para cord this would just be a yellow key fob.

I've had the CRKT peck on my keychain for almost 10 years and it has always worked well when I needed it. The peck is about as small as you can get too.

Not on my keychain but always in my frp attached to a Maratac AAA is my Spyderco Ladybug.
Great small knife.

I am liking the spyderco options so far. I have a Vic classic but I am looking for something new and with a little more.... Heft, if you know what I mean:D . It doesn't need to lock, but the Vic has too much play in it and doesn't feel as substantial as many of the single bladed knives I have had. I will probably carry the Vic tinker, classic, and whatever I buy next. Thanks for all the suggestions so far!

Also, after putting some thought into this, I am not supposed to go to any other country besides Poland (which allows any knives), but I can't guarantee that. If I end up temporarily going to someplace like the UK or Sweden, I probably won't want a locking or spring assisted knife in my luggage.

Praying for you bro. Keep us in the loop on your decision. Excited about what the Lord has in store for you.

I recently got a Spyderco Bug (or Ladybug?) and it's tiny. For such a small thing, it cuts like a much larger knife. No lock, but mine has a nice strong little backspring.

It'll make a great keyring knife, if I can ever get it back from my wife. :rolleyes:

I love the Ladybug and EDC mine everyday on my keyring. Mine is the FS H1 version and IMO the yellow handles help give it a sheeple friendly look.

I like my small nonlocking spyderco bug. It dangles at the same length as my other keys, which is very comfortable.

Spyderco Bug - But This Is Very Very VERY Small.
Spyderco Honeybee - Is A Little Larger But Very Keychain Friendly.
Spyderco Grasshopper - Would Be My Choice.
Spyderco Kiwi - Has A Nice Penetrative Tip And Is A Wharncliffe Blade So It'd Be Great For Cutting Anything Needed And Easily Sharpened If Needed.
Spyderco Ladybug - Wanting To Get One.
Spyderco Manbug - The Manly Version Lol.
Benchmade Benchmite - If You Can Find One.
Benchmade Levitator - You Can Get One At Knifeworks.
