you could pickle it, but you'd still end up sanding, black oxide is really resistant to pretty much everything, and anything that'd strip it would also really screw up your blade so I say just get out the sandpaper and work on those forearms

I agree with mrstenoien. Black oxide is stable stuff.
Are you sure it's black oxide and not paint? (Don't be offended, just checking. A lot of black blades have black epoxy coatings instead of black oxide.)
