Beautiful work!! Great rendition of the BF!! I especially like the long pull!!Cheers to Rhidian and his exceptional slip joint knife making prowess!
Thanks, Charlie. We had discussed doing some scrimshaw - a gnarly looking Grim Reaper. But when I saw the knife done with the especially white whitebone, I thought it looked too good to go that route.Beautiful work!! Great rendition of the BF!! I especially like the long pull!!
Nice going for both of you!!![]()
I sure will. Most of the time I like a long pull, at least with fancier trim bolsters. I like nail nicks, too, but the long pull is always a classy touch in my mind.long——pulls just make everything even better
Enjoy![]()

That long pull looks so much better, as others have mentioned. I don't mind nail nicks, I just really dislike the placement of it on the clip point 86s.Name finally came up on Rhidian's books toward the end of last year, right around the time I was wanting to see the '21 Bladeforums Club Knife rendered in white bone like I had originally voted for. The 86 frame has stolen the place in my heart that the 77 used to hold.

Rhidian's knifemaking is on par with Bret Dowell's. This knife is perfect. His leatherwork is excellent, too, and the slip he made for the knife is top notch.

This just arrived today, and I might have to indulge and just carry them both at the same time.

The recurve on the blade and the size of the clip both impact the way that nail nick looks, too... but oh well. That long pull looks so much better, as others have mentioned. I don't mind nail nicks, I just really dislike the placement of it on the clip point 86s.

I have carried this puppy pretty much every day since it arrived. It's so satisfying.

I did push it forward a little bit. Rhid's hollow grind is pretty skinny... Sharpened the edge and got some heel flare that was headed toward a recurve. Just wanted it forward of the plunge grind to keep the bevel even. That’s quite a sharpening choil. Did you modify that? It looked pretty substantial in the previous photos you posted, but even more so there.
I always like seeing Rhidian's version of that knife!! An inspired choice!!I did push it forward a little bit. Rhid's hollow grind is pretty skinny... Sharpened the edge and got some heel flare that was headed toward a recurve. Just wanted it forward of the plunge grind to keep the bevel even.
Gosh those look good. I'd love to have his rendition of a lambsfootI always like seeing Rhidian's version of that knife!! An inspired choice!!
He occasionally does boxes also!!
His knives are usually single authorship - all steps by him!!

Wonderful!! Amazing work for any time, let alone a first effort!! A single spring knife is a tough one to execute!! Beautiful specimen!!This is Rhidian's first Equal End Jack.
So you're the lucky fella who commissioned that one. When I saw him share it on IG, I was a little taken aback... Not something I'd have expected him to make, but was really impressed with his execution. You picked the right blade combination and I like the straight bar shield on thereWell then....
May I introduce what I have dubbed my little "cigarillo."
This is Rhidian's first Equal End Jack. He accepted the challenge executed and delivered. It takes a special kinda of something to be a knife maker and pull this off. I believe Mr. Rhidian Gatrill's got that skill set.
W2 carbon steel blades and spring. Stainless bolsters and liners. Clad in some beautiful mottled cream/white smooth bone.

I'll work on getting some better pics. But to really appreciate what went into it... it needs to be held.
Being one of the oldest patterns in folding cutlery it just made sense for him to finally give it a go right?Wonderful!! Amazing work for any time, let alone a first effort!! A single spring knife is a tough one to execute!! Beautiful specimen!!
