River Hawk EDC hawkbill, New River Knife Works exclusive!

Good morning, gang. I got in a couple of special River Hawks and wanted to give David's followers first crack before I post on our website. David made these up in MagnaCut. One has Red Palm scales, the other is Zebra Wood. Regular price is $260, but David and I both agree to offer his regular followers a special price on these if grabbed before I post on my website. Just reply here, and you can grab one for $235, shipped. These feel great in hand, and have a bit thicker stock than the regular River Hawks. They'll be amazing. Merry Christmas!

So #12 arrived at my humble abode around the new year, and has since been making itself useful in a number of ways.

Very handy little around-the-house blade, thanks for making it.

Your avatar says nope !

Ahhhh yes.....that silly Avatar. Funny thing that. That picture was indeed myself 25 years or so ago. Hard to believe any group or forum can last that long, or that I'd still be on one in any capacity, but here we are, eh? I seem to recall that pic was put up on a dare from my new Bride at that time. I've been with her for over 30 years now. That is the face of a man who was working road crews and seasonal construction in the Summer. Well over 100 hours a week for four or five months straight, then suddenly unemployed when the ground froze. I would then hold two jobs during the Winter as a security officer and an EMT. We were raising our first born child back then. Lotsa struggles in those times. Lotsa learning. Lotsa victory, and lotsa love during them crazy times, when that crazy pic was taken. I thought about changing it, because it's so darn ridiculous. Then I found myself with a bout of nostalgia. Of course, that's without thinking of this very forum and the members I've been blessed to know through it. Admittedly, I've made myself extremely scarce over the years. Still would be, if not for stumbling into DMC's work.

Despite the silliness, I think I'll keep it. People rarely see me smile much nowadays. That pic is proof that I am capable of it. Of course, my experiences and memories are no more precious than anyone else's, but...they are mine.

As to the original topic...I have become incredibly fond of my River Hawk. It finds it's way onto my belt most days. To be truly open on the matter, it's one of the least aesthetically pleasing blades I own, but it is such an amazing workhorse, ounce for ounce that I can't seem to go a day without it. It's ordinary looks belie the fact that it's a chainsaw, a laser, and a bowie knife all in one simple and lightweight package...Or something close to it...

I look forward to putting it to work this Summer while out fishing on the ocean. Cutting bait, cutting fish gills, line, etc. I think it'll do an outstanding job. I just...gotta remember to clean the blade again before I use it to cut up my dinner...

Dang night shifts. I gotta remember to be thankful for long, boring nights with too much time to think.

Great to see you! Still have the Sere 2K - actually I passed it on to my son so he could use it for a while instead of waiting for me to croak for him to get it.

There's a well remembered blast from the past! It's great to see ya' still around! I went through four SERE 2Ks. traded off two because I was restless and stupid, one because I had an...unfortunate outhouse incident I couldn't move on from, and I gave the last one away. I'm glad you've done well to hang onto yours!

Good idea moving stuff along to the kids while you're stlll here to enjoy them enjoying it. I'm considering some similar ideas.

Dang. I no longer own a River Hawk. it went back to it's original owner, and that's how it should be. Of all the DMC knives I've bought and traded off Brother Blind Mouse, that one never felt like mine anyways. like it was bonded to him in some way? weird, I know...

Now, I get to choose another River Hawk or other cool hawkbill, wharncliffe, sheepsfoot, reverse tanto kinda blade! It really did fill a role, and fill it well...
