Two more beauties for the drawer:

The Stag Gunstock arrived today thanks to a very kind Forumite in Britain being able to arrange for one to be sent here 😻

It's not a pattern I've much experience with but this one has gravitas without being lardy. Very nice sturdy feel to it all round. The Stag is very well matched with regard to thickness, texture and in hand feel. The machining of the liners, backspring and fitting of the Stag is really astounding- it feels at home in the hand. Pins are flush, grand loud snap and the blade is machined, ground and finished superbly .

Don't know what type of Stag it is, could be Sambar but it has very good ageing potential so that's one to look forward to. Kind of reminds me of Hubertus knives from Germany in style.

Criticisms? Not really except I'd like a long Spear on this rather than a Clip :D Some say the knives lack 'soul' no idea what that means when talking of an inanimate object but anyway ....It's a very well finished, tasteful, balanced knife that is well worth the money and it is funding an American company, the owners of which seem to have a real connexion with knives.

Picture's not that good but it may convey and idea of finish-the grind is great, need to show a spine shot to show the quality look and feel.

Have to say, the Stag on this one is excellent. That is a beautiful knife. Very nice score, WP.

There feels to be a lot of heart in these. I do not buy many China knives at all, but Rough Ryder is one brand (has to be cheap and more than double the quality worth of its price), and I may get a knife from these fellows. Will try to buy used.

Would be glad to get more USA trad knives if I could. Getting a fancy Buck 303 soon enough.

I just returned home from vacationing in Gatlinburg, TN. Harper Bros General Merchandise is about 30 mins away, so I drove out there Monday after learning that they carry the complete line of RC Blades. They seemed to have at least one of everything in the RC catalog, including some of the discontinued items, so I picked up two that I had been eyeing, the Briarpatch Jack and the Savage Creek Gunstock in black micarta. Went back today and got the Ocoee River Kayak (I was born and raised in the Ocoee River region in SE TN).

I do place a small amount of blame on you folks that posted the gunstock pattern as now I have one heading my way as well. ;) I was quite content with the Loosahatchie one I have but the stag won me over, I just hope that being a little narrower blade doesn't hurt it's cutting ability as the one I have cuts very nice.

This Gunstock was waiting in our roadside mailbox when we returned from Klamath Falls, Oregon late yesterday afternoon. It is the Stag version. Not the knarly, heavy bark that Will Will Power Will Power got on his Gunstock but nice none the less. Rosecraft lists the stag as Red Stag but when I took it out of the wrapper, I immediately was reminded of Elk. The knife is as others have described - well built, solid, close tolerances, sharp right out of the box etc.. It's a keeper.

Gatlinburg? In mid July? 😁
It was just a short vacation. But it was hot and muggy. We still had a good time. And coming home with 3 additions to the collection made it even better. 👍
I just got back from two weeks on the Cumberland Plateau without air conditioning. The saving grace was it cools off a lot at night. Now I'm looking at a new heat pump for the trailer 💰💸

These Rosecraft knives remind me of Chinese made AG Russell's. I have a couple/three of the AGR's and they are extremely well made. I've vowed to sell a lot of knives 🤣 and not buy any more 🤣, then I come and hang out with all you enablers
The stag gunstocks look really nice

Ooh,ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh - Neglected to say in my post above that the Gunstock has a blade stop and although it does have a kick, it does not rely on the kick to prevent blade rap but rather the blade stop. I've noticed this on several Chinese knives.

Modoc ED Modoc ED Looks a decent example to me :) I too thought it could be American Elk, but then Red Deer and the Elk of America are pretty similar cervidae, whereas European Elk is your Moose and their antlers are very porous.

Hawk-Eye there Ed 👁️ I hadn't noticed the Stop-Pin . Another useful feature  These are ready sharp knives so don't want any rap.

I have to admit - I originally regarded the Ocoee River Kayak as an ugly duckling when I first saw it, but after getting it in my hand and carrying it for a day, I've really taken a liking to it. There's nothing else like it in my collection.

They are really pretty, I wish I'd had this brand on my radar when they were available!

Looks like they released a new pattern today. The Sequatchie River muskrat. Black micarta and spade shield, like the gunstock.

Good lookin’, but personally I wish the secondary was a pen blade.
