Hello all,
I own a SAK Soldier silver handle, and it has a lanyard hole and right above that is a small flat square? On the main blade its maked 86. Is this when it was made? I would post a pic but I dont own a camera. Any info would be great! Thanks.

Yes, the stamp on the main blade is the year of issue. The small square used to be stamped with "WK" (quality control stamp). At some point Swiss Army decided that the quality of the SAKs is so high that there is no point checking and stamping them. Victorinox continued using the scales with the square until they ran out, switching to square-less scales after that.

Thanks guys! I dont own a digital camera, but a friend does. Ill see if I cant get a pic or two. Thanks again.

that is an 1986 made standart soldier, silver scales, the wk stamp is waffenkontrolle ("quality" control of arms) the sak is considered an arm like the pistol and rifle etc in swiss military.
