Schrade survival knives

Few questions about them:
-If I remember correctly, Extreme Survival was advertised as beeing developed in consultation with law enforcement personnels. If that is right who were they?
-Another rumor had that Len McDougall outdoor writter was the consultant. Is there any truth in these?
-Is BTO1 really a forged blade?
-What is the black coating on the DBL2 Double Eagle?
-Is the TPR handle DEET resistant?

The Extreme Survival knife was developed by Schrade in conjunction with state, local, and federal "bomb tech" specialists after the New York World Trade Center bombing. There is no more to it than that and we can't divulge specific names of individuals or organizations for obvious reasons.
