Scissors as EDC?

Anyone carry scissors as part of their EDC? I find I often need them and the Micra can only do so much.

So I am thinking of carrying my Jensen electrician's scissors as part of my daily load-out. They are tough enough to cut through cable (cat5) and still cut paper well.

Here's a pic:

Anyone else?

I found that the orange leatherman Juice has everything I would ever need for a EDC tool. Scissors work great.

I somehow ended up with 3 though?!!? :D

I find myself using small scissors more than a knife in an office environment, but my micra or SAK scissors always do the job, so they are my EDC for scissors

CD, Where did you buy your scissors, please. My micra
is nice enough but there are many times that I need tough
scissors in addtion to my Supertool & stockman.

An address / link would be most welcome.

CD, I have a pair just like that made by Klein Tool. The local Sears sells them.

Hiro Oneida, one of the last Japanese solders to surrender after WWII,(1973:eek: ) made mention in his book that scissors would have been an invaluable tool for long term survival.

Clay, I use my multitool scissors quite often, but don't carry a separate pair of scissors. I do keep a Fiskars Quick-Release Multi-Shears available for emergencies when in a vehicle.

Ryan, I like almost every aspect of my Juice S2 also. Unfortunately, to me, the scissors are the only weak part of the tool. Mine are effective on paper, but nothing tougher. I haven't tried to sharpen them yet. Maybe that will help. Another problem with mine is that they are loose and cannot be tightened, since they are held together with a rivet. I can't tell if the looseness is intentional or if mine are defective. The scissors on my LM Wave are not this way.

For most tasks I like the scissors on my Victorinox Super Tinker the best. They are extremely sharp and handle fine work beautifully.
For heavy tasks I like the Fiskars scissors that are built into the Gerber multi-tools. Those will handle light metal.

If you want serious scissors in a compact package you should pick up a SOG CrossCut. The compound leverage, and tough blades, give them a lot of cutting power. I can't think of too many reasons to carry a Micra over the CrossCut...

My SwissCard has scissors that I can use, but the need rarely arises. I use my EDC knife for almost everything.

I didn't see anyone post anything about the scissors that are on the Leatherman Wave. The Wave is part of my EDC, along with the Micra that's on my keychain. Since I acquired both of these sets of scissors, I have found myself using them quite frequently, at one time or another.

Ok ... now you got me not sleeping tonight thinking if my scissor carry is inferior ... god I need help! =)

Anyway, since I heard Fiskar scissors are pretty sweet utility wise, anyone carry one of these?

Anything better?

Tried the Crosscut, didn't like the handle cutting into me everytime I pressed down to cut. Like the Micra, but now looking for something better.

Thanks,

Ryan

The scissors of my Leatherman Micra are plenty good-enough for me. If I find that I need anything larger or better to cut with, there is always my Siegle 11 inch blade Bowie...:D.

I love the SAK (except the spring) and Leatherman (excepting the Pulse) scissors which work great on thread, paper, cardboard, etc. but I have ruined a few cutting through cables, or accidentally hitting a metal piece.

These electrician's scissors are made to cut through cable. I was surprised to see that they cut paper well instead. They are too big for a few uses, which a micra would fill better, so I will probably carry the micra or another multitool with a scissors in addition to these electrician's shears.

I am usre there are many who have no need to cut cable or other material of the sort; just wanted to see if there was anyone else who thought of carying scissors with them as EDC.

I've found the scissors on my Micra work great for small, light stuff, and even cut decently through some cardboard and leather. The wire cutters on the ST200 I carry candle wire and cable well, and a knife cuts most other things pretty well. It'd still be nice to carry a pair of heavy duty scissors, but not nice enough to justify the added bulk and inconvenience. If the ST200 had a pair of heavy duty scissors in it I'd be in heaven.

Hmmmm.....Maybe "Leatherman" will catch wind of this thread and come-out with a LARGE version of the Micra ("Super Micra"?), with a HEAVY-DUTY scissor.:).

Those are nice.

One thing I do like about the electrician's scissors, is for around $10, they are easy to replace if lost, broken, or they become to dull to use (I imagine they would become too dull to cut paper well first, and too dull to cut cable later)
