HeavyHanded HeavyHanded It sounds like you sharpen chisels fairly often. Why have you chosen not to use a guide?

I've heard a lot of negative reviews from people that have them, and very few positive ones. Also eliminates your ability to use the entire stone. Mostly just a bit of irrational stubbornness, esp once I figured out a good way to really pin them down freehand....
 
Thanks; I knew you'd have a good reason. I can't even remember the last time I sharpened a chisel so I'm not in the market for one. Do you sharpen gouges too?

Only a handful of little hobby ones. I don't own any gouges currently although will be inheriting some in the near future.
