OK, actually looking at these for gunsmithing, but believe some of you use them in your knifemaking too, and as group in here tends to be more knowledgable than the guys on most of gun forums I post on, figured you could probably answer the question better.

What's the advantage of an H type press over an A frame press. Looking at 12 ton shop presses from Harbor frieght, and the H style(or whatever it is properly called), costs about 30% more. Wondering if there's a reason for this, is it a stronger design, or jsut costs more to produce, or what? Looking for a press to put together some AK kits.
 
You can get bigger stuff in an H frame more versatile, Probably an A frame is a little stronger but it is more for pressing out bearings and stuff.


H frame you can press bearings, straihten whats bent and bend whats straight.

Most HF presses ain;t fast enough for production work if that's what you have in mind. Check out Bob Warner's design over on Tool TIME.
