Should I buy a Heat treat oven or make a forge?

Well "I'm all in" as they say. Evenheat actually had a kh418 with the 12 key option in stock that could ship Mon., so I pulled out the old plastic and got the OK from the wife. I made a couple calls and ended up going with Ann Sheffield at Sheffield supply who was very nice and accomodating. Thanks for everyone's help. I'm sure I'll have plenty of questions come heat treat time. I don't expect anyone to divulge their hard earned secrets, but I may have some basic questions to get me headed in the right direction. Thanks again for everyone's advice.
 
stich with good carbon steels for off then buy some foil and Al plates for the stainless steels O1 is great when get a good soak on it
