Simple heat treating Forge

I just ran over to the local rockery - you know, sand, brick, paving stones, ....

They only came in two sizes and one color. Stacked 'em up and lit it.

Today I and the oldest son tried it out on a concrete stake: metal rod 1/2" diameter. We had a great time. We made a tiny hoe for mom's flower bed. We used a small sledge hammer and some old cement blocks for an anvil.

I could get to this,

Gotta hunt down a real anvil.
