Sketchen Scales Customs

I am reaching out to anyone who may have a personal relationship with Steve. Reply can be private and can be sent to my email address sparkdogelw@aol.com. Following is the reason why.

On May 8 Steve acknowledged receipt of my Gayle Bradley 2 along with a cashiers check for $153.00 for the scales and preservation treatment. Also I did check with y credit union and the check has been cashed.

June 13 was the last I heard from him. He stated that my knife would be ready in a couple of weeks.

I have sent several emails with no response from him. I wrote him a letter giving him 3 methods,in which to contact me, no response.

At this, point I could vent, but after reading through 46 pages of people satisfied and extremely happy with their dealings with Steve I feel that this current situation is out of character for him.

Any help would be most appreciated.. I do hope that an emergency has not befallen him or his family. Thanks

Ernest Wohleb

Ernest...it's not just you...I think a few of the BF brethren may be suffering from bad business practices from Steve and are hesitant to speak up out of respect...like me.

Seems he may be only greasing the squeaky wheels and letting the "nice guys" die on the vine from waiting to get picked.

But I've come to the point to where he's taken my advance money and hasn't delivered on his own self appointed deadlines too many times.

I've been mislead by Steve...maybe worse <that still remains to play out>....

Here's a thread I started about the issue over in G, B, & U, I still hold out hope everyone can be made whole:

spketch spketch I hate to see a situation like this continue to go further south because of no communication and not being honest, no I don't wanna say honest because I believe his intent isn't to keep anyone's knife or rip anyone off. I believe he ran into hard times for whatever reasons and believe me I know how problems can quickly spiral outta control but that's still no reason to leave customers guessing as to what the status of their knives are.

The longer he waits the worse it'll get, I always feel better when I'm being proactive instead of reactive. Steve, don't let the past work you've done all be for naught, you can still be profitable here on BFC. Let this continue in this direction and the members will speak with their dollars and I've rarely seen a Bad in the GB&U recover after more than a page. People will just add to it but it is possible to recover, the member here are very forgiving as long as your up front and able to be reached, unfortunately this is not turning out to be the case here.

Make it all right or explain why it's not moving forward these folks are really understanding till they start to feel like they've been taken advantage off. I hope you can stills recover from this. For the sake of the member's knives you still have and the sake of your business and reputation, both are hard to get back once you've lost them.

 Steve, even if you plan on never doing another mod you know long after this page is buried all the way to the back of the server someone will bump it forward to make sure the next member doesn't make the same mistake of trusting you that these other guys did. Oh and the GB&U thread is one you can't close so the evidence will always be available to see and I'm certain this tread will get bumped often. Sorry you took the easy way out, I hope you make it your priority to spend all your time making this right and everyone whole. You may never gain everyone's trust back but at least you'll know in the end that you did the right thing.

Please nobody deal with Steve Ketchen of sketchenscales.. he is keeping people's knife, cashing checks from people who paid upfront, won't communicate with any asking about their knives or money has turned to total scum.

Anybody doing research or trying to get a knife customized by Sketchenscales buyer beware.

It appears that Steve is still taking orders and not returning merchandise and possibly taking money upfront. His voice mailbox is full if you try to contact him by phone and he doesn’t respond to emails nor letters.

Several of us had to get the Clinton PD involved to get our knives back. Go read the GB and U forum on this mess. It appears he is still playing this game with the unsuspecting, so buyer beware proceed with caution. Don’t pay upfront and don’t send anything you can’t afford to lose.

Aw man that's sad to hear. I thought with him sending some completed knives he might be getting back on the right path. He did such great work, what a waste.
