Anyone have this knife? Just got it for a great price, and was curious if anyone had any experiene with it. It seems to be pretty well made. Anyone know the quality of these knives? I'm excited to try it out.

Thanks

for $15 a kershaw chill is great value. either way, use the snot out of it and as long as it works it's a great value!

Crap? That's a little hard on em. I bought a lot of these cheap knives before I started buying high quality knives, and I can honestly say that not all of them are bad. In fact, one of my favorite knives is a cheap s&w. I say cheap btw, because they are, or should be. Always. What I mean by that is that places like Big 5 regularly rotate their knives through their "sale" program. If some poor soul accidentally pays full price then the store scored, but you should never pay more than the $15 (or whatever) sale price. In fact they will usually give you the sale price if you ask even when they aren't on sale.

Anyway, my favorite is a flipper. It actually flips better than my Southard (say whaaaat???!) and it would wave incredibly well too, if they tapped the knife for the clip to turn around. :( It slices very well, and holds a decent edge. Great knife for peanuts.

The guy I use to work with had one and he said he used it for about 3 years. It looked beat to hell but it was still in one piece. Contrary to that, another person I work with had one that lasted a few months and the screws fell out of the handle. So I guess if you at least get a year out of it, it's worth the $15.

Is this the version that looks like it was styled after a strider, if so i have one. Just using it to practice sharpening and learning how to "pimp" things. I took the thumb stud off and burred out a spydie hole. Use like you stole it and you will slowly make your way up the knife food chain...hey everyone has to start somewhere right.

Well i have a ka bar fighting style knife i got a while back. I'm not a beginner, just picked it up because it seemed like a good deal.

I'm sorry if I came across badly. I have handled a friend's Tanto S&W folder, and it was crap. Paper thin liners, and alot of blade play. That being said, S&Ws can be gateway knives. They allow you to get accustomed to the intracacies of knife ownership and usage, and they can instill the desire to get new knives. The 2nd knife I bought was a S&W Oasis, which was quite a tank. That knife made me want a high end folder, so after saving up some money, I got a Benchmade Griptillian. I'm a full on knife nut, now.

Anyway, welcome aboard. Use the snot out of that knife too.

I have the spear point version and it's a beast. It carries much like my Striders and I carry it in places where I think my Strider could get confiscated. Great knife, zero blade play and takes a damn sharp edge.

it will primarly be my backup to the ka bar, anything too small for my ka bar to handle, i'll let the s&w do the work. very affordable, which is what caught my attention

Welcome aboard regardless.

For the money, I tend to avoid American brand cheapies. Chinese domestics are a better value for the money.

What knife is this? It's actually pretty good looking.

I had one. Barely used it, but it was clipped to my pocket for a month before it got confiscated. By the end of it, it was completely beat up. Developed a lot of side by side play, pocket clip was so beat up that all it did was suspend it from my pocket, paint chipped off, screws got loose... List goes on. Even so, I still sort of miss it, but I'm not willing to buy a replacement.

A couple more Smith's that I carry when I'm walking the neighborhood at night. Though they haven't got any real hard use, they have very solid lock ups and take a hella spine wack!

I have that one in plain edge. It's one of the ones that I don't like at all. Way too heavy and the blade is too thick. Not my cup of tea. I also have the one in the pic above (not the karambit) and it's pretty decent I guess. I use it for sharpening and acid dipping/media blasting.

A funny thing about the knife I mentioned in my first post... I bought that HRT about 8 years ago. Never seen another one on the street. When I came in to work tonight and friend pulled out his brand new knife and sure enough it's the exact same one. It doesn't flip anywhere near as well as mine, but I'm sure that's the because it's new. Mine has been flipped exactly 100 billion times. They use nylon bushings, but they aren't bad. Mine has no play anyway.

Edit- this is the HRT that I'm talking about. If you see this flipper cheap you might like it.

All the S&W knives I have seen and held were crap. They make a nice gun but only put their name on junk knives.
