Howdy all, *insert boiler plate statement all new members put about long time lurker first time poster, blah, blah blah*. So here is the deal I bought an double bit ax on a whim and soaked it in vinegar to see how much of the bit was left (fair amount) and to remove the rust to see if there was a makers mark, there wasn't. So here is the deal I currently have it marinating in boiled linseed oil because the internet told me to and I took some pictures to see if any one recognized anything. It has some black paint on it I noticed before the vinegar bath but that's all I have on it. I've included pictures of the handle in case that helps, it had some blue paint on it. With all these hints I'm giving surely someone will know what it is (Heavy sarcasm warning). Honestly, you could tell me it was from Walmart and I wouldn't be surprised, I just have no idea with this one.

A top down view would really help with the id but from what I see: 1.It's a good quality axe, 2. It's got lot's of hard steel left, 3. If the haft is original it's pre 60's is my guess, and 4. The double temper lines are unusual and might mean something.

The two colors of steel denote an overlaid bit and then the darker color is temper. It's a good ol axe! And the neatest thing by far is that whoever owned it prior filed one bit "keen" and the other one "stunt". I love getting an axe that's been filed properly. If only it could talk! I bet it's done some real work in it's day. And welcome by the way!

looks good looks solid, plenty of life left, if you sharpen it properly it should be great for years to come. unfortunately other than unique shape, which this one is a standard shape, there would be no way of ID'ing a no-name
