SOG Arc Lock - some pictures and how it works

Hi Tiger,

I noticed you do not post your email address. I was hoping to email you about this outside of the forum for a more personal interaction.

Homework was done...without this very solid homework, SOG would never have put the ArcLock into production and opened ourselves up to risky litigation.

We appreciate your concern. You did mention, though, you were not an attorney, but rather a "fan" of reviewing patents. Might you have education or credentials that could benefit this discussion?

I personally am not an attorney, engineer, physicist, knife designer, nor knife lock expert and cannot discuss this topic in detail (nor am in the same league of knife knowledge of Jim March or Sergiusz Mitin). SOG employs people who have these credentials. With this homework done, we put into production the ArcLock.

Please understand that your posts do insinuate that SOG may have broken a law and infringed on the patents of others. If we have, I'm sure we will hear from the attorneys of the patent holders. My email address is below if you would like to contact me outside the forum or, of course, you are free to comment here.

Let's be careful here as to what claims are being made and by whom. It is up to Bob Brothers and the REKAT team to defend their patent if they feel it has been infringed, not us or anyone here for that matter. As Ron already stated, SOG did there homework on the model and I am sure that talks will occur behind the seens between both companies if they feel there is a problem.

We don't need to drag potential legal issues into this forum or any of my forums here. Heck, if I wanted to, I could have a field day doing that myself

Cool inside pics Sergiusz. I always wondered how these things work myself. I took apart a Kershaw Boa the other day and I may post those pics as well. You guys would not beleive how simple that mechanism is!

Hi All!
As I noticed (with decent deal of sadness) the greatest response obtain the threads with somewhat scandalous aftertaste. Even if one of us would be patent expert - maybe (or maybe not) he or she could express the opinion in this matter certainly and justified. But even in this case it would be great off topic because I have started this thread to describe how Arc Lock works for interested people.
Especially sad is to read here about amateur attack onto SOG activity's lawfulness. Nothing worse is than this kind of attack, someone says you without any justification: "You are a thief!" and you have to look for arguments to prove you are not because it was done in publics.

Mike is right at 100%, let's be careful and calm in our judgements, let's do not claim someone doing something illegal only because it seems for us.

This is the reason why I would lock this thread now if I would be BladeForums Administrator or this Forum Moderator. I'm not, so I'm requesting - Mike, please lock this thread on my request!

At the same time I'm inviting all interested to my review on SOG Night Vision - first knife utilizing this innovative locking device.

About pictures, Mike, do it please! I'm also going to take apart my Boa and take photos because I'm working on the book where I want to describe how these things are working. If I could use yours (of course specifying about copyrights

) I would be very grateful because one more of my knives wouldn't lose the warranty
